I currently have the machine head off of the cabinet. The cabinet needs some TLC. It appears all moving parts still move except nothing moves on the bobbin winder part. So I'm not sure if it is seized up or it just doesn't move. It didn't come with any attachments or bobbins nor the shuttle so I am on the hunt for these. Also needs the belt. Anyone who knows anything about these grand old ladies please advise.

As I can only post 3 pictures at a time I will be replying to this post with a few more pictures.

Here is the machine head sitting on my kitchen counter

Great machine. I have one from my husbands grandmother, it was purchased in 1904 when she got married.

Oh, one more photo please...the top, the wooden top that covers the machine head...I'd love to see that...please?
The drawers are my favorite...that style...I love those! I've got one of these machines too...mine is a bit older and I've yet to work on or with it...mine is not a bonnet top cabinet, however. Great find for you...I know how thrilled you must be!

She's lovely! :)

You'll find it amazing what some sewing machine oil will do for her...
I really recommend that you join Needlebar.org ! The amount of information on that website, and the people who hang out there are tops! (You'll probably be able to find a manual there!)

Oh man I already put away the camara but here is a link to one that looks just like it. http://www.sewmuse.co.uk/cases.htm#m27

Scroll to the middle of the page. The one that has the description "Model 27 from 1895". The top is called a "coffin top"

I already dated mine to Sept 30 1901. The serial number was easy to read and I tracked it on Singer's website

Thanks for the website and the very quick reply...I'll have to recheck the sr# and redate my machine...it's out in the DH's shop and the weather is not conducive to late night adventures, and there's snow on the ground! I'm about 120 miles north of Houston and I've got about 2" inches of snow on the ground that fell this evening...tooo many things wrong with this picture! Congratulations again on your new machine.
