My Practice Quilt

3 Attachment(s)
This is my first FMQ. I have tried meandering on some wall hangings but this is my first try at quilting designs on a quilt. It has so many mistakes but I am just happy I got the nerve to try. Probably should have done a lot of practice on some quilt sandwiches but I wanted to see if I could manage a quilt. Although it is small I just used it for practice before I try a larger one. Boy do I need a lot of practice. Hope the quilt police are not around.

I think you did a wonderful job! I just tried my first pattern quilting and I can tell you it didn't come out as well. By the way the quilt is also a beautiful pattern. Love it.

btiny36 01-31-2013 08:57 AM

First of, that is a beautiful top, secondly I would let you quilt mine. If this your first great job and only you will see mistakes. I believe it's a work of art. There is never any quilt police here.

Donna 66 01-31-2013 08:57 AM

I agree--it looks great and a very cute pattern. We all see our mistakes more than others do--it much be a lawy of nature or something :)

blueangel 01-31-2013 08:58 AM

Looks great..

mimiknoxtaylor 01-31-2013 09:00 AM

Great job! Cute top too

Joy Higdon 01-31-2013 09:04 AM

Thank you ladies. It certainly full of mistakes but I loved the process. So much encouragement from this board. I would never have tried but for you all.

PaperPrincess 01-31-2013 09:05 AM

Cute quilt and great FMQ job! You should have seen my first attempt!

quiltstringz 01-31-2013 09:19 AM

Great job - I have been FMQ for a while and not nearly as good as you are.

quiltingeileen 01-31-2013 09:26 AM

You must be a natural at FMQ! Amazing this is your first try on a reg. sized quilt. Bravo :)

azwendyg 01-31-2013 09:49 AM

Wow, that's IMPRESSIVE! Your feathers look like feathers, your pebbling looks like pebbling, and you've included a lot more really nice details as well! (My first "keeper" piece was only about 6 x 9 inches and I made a little wallet out of it.) Great job!!!

Helen S 01-31-2013 09:55 AM

Such a cute quilt! Nobody will notice the "mistakes" except you, and you have to go easy on your own critiques. lol I think it turned out great!

MamaBear61 01-31-2013 09:55 AM

Beautiful. The quilt is lovely and your quilting enhances it perfectly.

SewExtremeSeams 01-31-2013 10:02 AM

Looks great from here. Try imagining riding by on a horse and see if you can see the same mistakes you say you see while standing right over your work. I bet they don't show up! Keep up the great work. At least you got a start, that is most of the battle.

Chasing Hawk 01-31-2013 10:04 AM

Thanks for the compliments. It means a lot coming from all of you wonderful quilters. This is where I get my inspiration, help and advice from. All i have to do is ask.
