Hi all,
I've been a member here for awhile, but have never posted pictures. Thought you might be interested in my recent stuff The kaleidoscope quilt was created for a challenge - had to symbolize 'spring' and had to be our own design. I created the kaleidoscope blocks and frames from photos my DH took - most are from ice and snow on pine trees and weeds, some are from flower pictures. Then I inserted pictures of babies (again my DH work). The denim shirt jackets were created one day when I had a couple of orphan blocks, and I realized that my stuff is on a bed or on the wall, but no body ever sees it, so I created a line of denim shirt jackets casamanana aka Vicky :D This is Spring Sprang Sprung - I think you can zoom in for a closer look One of my sweatshirt jackets This is a closeup of one of the blocks in the quilt |
Beautiful work!!! thanks for sharing!

I especially love the quilt. It is so different from most of the quilts I've seen. I think the black really makes the blocks pop.
The jacket is very nice also. |
I love the pictures you added....great touch. Right
not I am making a Memory Wedding Quilt for my Goddaughter. I gave squares to all the guests to sign and now I am printing photos to go on each block. I need to go some sashing fabric because I don't like the stuff I bought before. It needs something more of color to make the photos POP. I hope it turns out the way it looks in my mind. |
Thank you!

Dorian,
just a suggestion - in your photo editing software, saturate the colors, increase the amount of contrast, and increase the 'brightness' a little. That's how I got mine to keep the rich colors when I printed on the fabric casamanana aka Vicky :D |
Wow-that quilt is great. The jacket is beautiful.
|
Thanks for all the kind words. My internet connection is making me crazy, so I'm going to try putting the denim shirt jacket up tomorrow.
sorry, Vicky  |
You do beautiful work!! Great idea on increasing photo resolutions! They came out brighter! :D :D
|
WOW!!!! Your quilt is really beautiful! I like how you added the photos also! Great idea!
I definitely want to add this one on my list of quilts to try! I have been trying to figure out how to make a snowflake block quilt without using appilques! This looks like it could be turned into snowflake blocks. Plus I have always liked the look of the kaleidoscope blocks! Thank you for sharing your pics and inspiration! DeeDee |
Wow! You are one very talented lady. Thank you for sharing with us.

Dee Dee,
try www.villagequiltshoppe.com they have lots of free patterns, and bunches of really inexpensive patterns. I know they have several snowflake patterns. just do a search for them. They also have a quilt pattern that has different snowflakes in each block. I've used their patterns before, and they are accurate and well written. If you don't want to pay for snowflake patterns, go to www.about.com/quilt. Thousands of free block and quilt patterns - and do a search on snowflake casa manana aka Vicky :D |

Thank you all for your kind words. You are all so wonderfully supportive, it's hard to comprehend because it is so different from what I'm used to in daily life - sales clerks, people walking in a door, doesn't matter where, it just seems most people are out to serve only themselves.
Well, I'm going to try again to post one of the denim shirt jackets. Denim shirt jacket front Denim shirt jacket back |

These are lovely, and brought back memories of my son as a
first grader! (Now 41 years old) Since he had insisted on wearing denim shirts like a real cowboy, and kept losing them with no way of instantly spotting them on other kids' backs, I said I'd embroidery pictures on them if he designed them. We came up with some good results, one of which was a head shot of his dear Doberman Kurt. Another shirt was of a pretty car with pin strips he had fallen in love with (no, we didn't buy it for him at age 16!!) and another one the school teacher took from a boy who had stolen it and tried to wear it home..that one had a big cougar snarling on it that we had seen in the mountains!! Come to think of it, I have a small grandson about 5 years old now....maybe he will like a shirt or jacket made from his own ideas!! |
Very nice, all of them.
|
Beautiful.
|
