Heres what ive been working on lately. Now before you can say it yes this one is kind of a morbid design. It all started when i had someone interested in me making this quilt for them so i blew up the design for it but they were no longer interested the skull design comes from a sign i built and have hanging in my home. So to stay busy while i work out some details for another quilt i started this one it has yet to be quilted but when its done i might sell it who knows. So about the quilt the squares of the top are 12" blocks of black, greys and some beige colors i found and the applique for the skull is white shiney satin and black nike stretch fabric for the black parts its something to see in person for sure the skull is 4' tall by 43" wide all of the quilting i plan to do for it will be skulls drawn all over it with black thread this i suspect will take some time to do though so i thought id post the top and ill have more when its completed also pictured with it is my sewing machine to give you an idea of the size of this thing.

Awesome work, gk!!

Exceptional. Your idea for quilting it sounds brilliant. Will be looking forward to seeing this one as it progresses!
|
Very Interesting GK. Nice job.
|
Wow, you left me speechless!
|
Wow, that is huge! Looks good. Could be a banner! I sure do want to see what it looks like when you do your quilting.
|
awesome!!!!
|
It's really cool. I almost fell off my chair when I opened the thread. What a surprise, but the more I look at it the more I like it.

Chris, just called my hubby in here to show him that other bikers, also quilt.
He has a Suzuki 1500 Intruder, with 83,000 miles on it. He wants to know what kind of bike you have. You really are very talented to be able to sew those types of fabrics on a machine that doesn't have all the bells and whistles. Looks like the teeth on the skull are over 3/4 as tall as the machine. That is one big skull! Should sell well around October  |
Very unique quilts you do, Khan
|
Chris - you are SO AWESOME! sell it and make follars! Sell lots and lots of stuff - you are talented!!!
|
Chris that is one BIG skull. I can see my nephew with that on his bed he loves skulls on his shirts too. Great detail.
|
Chris....THAT ROCKS!!! Dang if you aren't talented!!! Keep up the great work kiddo!!!
|
Amazing Chris!!! And a little bit scarey too....LOL
|
Very cool design Chris!
|
How striking is that!!
Chris you have unleashed an amazing talent for design, I LOVE it...although it is rather tooo life like, I was wondering if you added some glow in the dark fabs to highlight the contours, like the brow bones etc., now THAT would be scarey in the night...lol!! :D :D :D |
That quilt is AWESOME!!!!
K |
A ha! I knew other people would like it!!!!
It really does look great :) |
You are a quilting ROCK STAR!!
I love this- it is so original! And you are such an artist to get it looking so real. I just love a rulebreaker- and you are one! You should be very proud of yourself! |
Chris! That's pretty cool!
So, now I can have the Five O'clock one and you can keep the skull! :) :) |
Just wait until those girls at the quilt/sewing shop get a load of this one!
You are one talented person with that designing and executing of your thoughts, chris. I have seen movie stars with skulls on thier clothing lately. Is it a trend? |

Smokey looks like she is in her proper place! They do own their surroundings!
|
Oh Yeah! Turned out great. I can see the quilted skulls in irridescent thread. You should be able to sell this one for big bucks, Chris. You may not have to go back to welding after all. :D :D :D
I'm very impressed with the sewing - those fabrics are not easy to sew - especially combined with each other! |
Thats pretty cool. My son would love it
|
I Agree that's cool and I'm sure someone else out there besides us on the board will agree and be happy to take it off your hands :)
|
That's awesome!! You did GOOD!!
Can't wait to see it quilted! |
WOW That is just waaay toooo cool :D :D :D
|
Chris, you truly are talented. If you get too worried about the effect on poor Smoky, you can always send the quilt to me--after it is quilted of course!!! Great plan for the quilting by the way.
|
Super cool! I can see it hanging in my son's room. He is a skateboarder guy and it would make his day.
I love your sign--I think the wings w/ the skull are cool. Can't wait to see how you quilt it. |
Chris, that is really something! I love it projects that have a unique take on something and I have to say...this one does! I bet you will be able to get some good bucks $$$ for that!
I don't know, I think I might discourage my kitty from associating with it though...mine can get evil enough without help!  Smokey actually looks kinda cute on it I think. |
I really don't think its a crazy idea.I'm collecting white with black print on it for a grand daughters skull quilt .My grand kids would love to own that quilt
