Ok, I asked a while back how do outline my SBS, I tried the blanket stictch by hand because my machine does not do it. Then I tried the zig zig on my machine and I could not get it to look right on the curves of the arm (any suggestions?) So I decided to paint the edges. I don't like it, but it is a gift so it has to be finished.

What do you think?

I love all Sun bonnet Sue blocks!

I just tried them for the first time this week. I used a zig zag stictch on my cheapie machine. It was not perfect. The advice I was given is to slow down and pivot on the curves after every 2 - 3 stitches. Just tiny pivots. No big turns.

I meant to say that I tryed the blanket stitch and couldn't get the spacing or the hight even. I am horrible at that. That is the reason I gave up on hand quilting. :D

That is so cute. And I think you did a great job. Wonderful gift.

Never give up---just keep practicing.

Your Sunbonnet Sues are precious. I slept under a Sunbonnet Sue quilt that my grandmother made for me when I was growing up---it holds wonderful memories for me.
