My third top. This one I call my "Window Garden".

I hope quilting will even out the "sags" (don't know the correct term) in the fabric. When I piece everything seems (no pun intended) nice and flat and I try to feed the fabric evenly under the foot - but I can't avoid the unevenness that results. Any tips ladies?

It looks, to me, that the problem may be your borders. Measure the CENTER of the quilt and then cut the border that size. Then fold the border and top in half, pin the center of the border to the top at the marked fold, then pin the ends, then evenly fit the fabric in between. The same technique would work for fitting long sashing strips to the quilt sections, in case that is part of the problem. I hope that helps.

it looks great. yes, the quilting will help with the 'sags'. you just have to baste well so you don't get pleats when quilting.

Beautiful, it should all work out. I wash and dry my quilts when I finish the binding, puffs up and hides many things. Great job.

I guess I do. I have a Janome 6600P which has one built in and have just ordered a Janome 1600P with a 3.0M quilting frame.

I should be good to go when I have practiced the art of "free motion".

Looks like you have a lot of bias edges which certainly contribute to the stretching of some edges. Even a miniscule 1/32 of an inch carried over 8 blocks adds up to a 1/2 inch difference. Careful spray-basting will help, but what I'm currently doing to correct the same problem is to pick apart small sections of seam and push the edges either further apart or closer together and then re-sew.
