I'll see if this works.

The flip-flop quilt I made for a friend whose DD is in High School cheerleading and she asked if I would make a quilt for them to raffle off to raise money. I had just seen this pattern in the F&P magazine and thought it would be perfect for a bunch of high school girls. It came out a little too bright for my tastes.

The baby quilt I made for a neighbor who is also in my Bunco group. I made the quilt after seeing one done at my LQS. The center block came from WallyWorld. Now everyone wants me to make them one and I can't find the material anywhere.

Oh, I love them! My DD (17) and her friends would go ga-ga over the flip-flops. Great work!

Love them both, but am particularly impressed w/the flip flop quilt. I have that pattern, but have not made it yet. I even bought some great flip flop printed fabric for backing. It is on my "To Do" list. Must say, I have no intention of doing such an elaborate boarder as you did. You did a great job! It is hard to tell by photo, but did you make it 3-D in terms of the straps on the flip flops? I love to embellish and this is the perfect pattern to have fun with. Mine is going to be a wall hanging, rather than a lap quilt, so it won't matter if I jazz up the flip flops w/ buttons, flowers, beads, etc. Thanks for sharing. One of these days I'll master the art of digital photo taking and the technology involved to show you all some of my stuff. LOL, Nita

Love the flip flops!!

sandybeach 10-02-2008 10:13 AM

Thanks everyone :)

Nita, the border is just a log cabin design. No, the straps on the flip-flops are strictly contrast colored fabric appliqued down on the edges. I know a lot of people use ribbon and buttons, but I didn't want to go that far for something I was giving away. I have since made a second quilt for my son's girlfriend for Xmas and I copied a pattern I found here on the Board and like it a lot more than this quilt. As soon as I get it back from the quilter I will post a pic. I also found some great fleece fabric with flip-flop's on it and plan to use it on some more flip-flop quilts.

I like both quilts a lot--but the flip flop quilt is great--I made one several years ago for my daughter and really enjoyed embellishing it. Then I did a flip flop block swap with a group of ladies and have a wallhanging for myself!!

I think the fabric you are looking for is Bazooples . . . Check this out. I'm doing the nursery book for DGBaby. That's how I recognized it.

Wonderful quilts!

CissyQuilts 10-04-2008 09:35 PM

The baby quilt is so sweet. Love the flip flop quilts and the log cabins make a wonder border for the quilt.

Deb G 10-08-2008 11:10 AM

Those are beautiful quilts for being your 1st ones. The flip-flop one should make alot of $$ at the auction.

Can't say I've seen that panel you're looking for at any of the wally worlds I go to but I hope you find some.
