A friend gave this to us as a wedding gift 21.5 years ago and we've used it ever since.

My first impulse was to carefully put it away but fortunately another friend told me that quilts are meant to be used.

I've washed it and dried it countless times and it's very soft and lovely now.

Ahhhh, the comfort of a broken in quilt. Congrats on your 20 plus years of marriage.

I always tell anyone I gift a quilt to that if they put it away and keep it "for special" that I will take it back!

The quilt (and the maker) are much happier that you're using it! It sure is beautiful.

Beautiful, what a treasure. Quilts only get better with use!

It is beautiful.

I'm glad you are using it!

When my previous next door neighbor moved into assisted living her daughter asked me to go through some things of hers that she didn't have room for.

I was flabbergasted, there was a whole box of "wedding gifts" with the plastic still on them in the original boxes and the cards from her wedding. They were silver pieces such as a butter dish, salt and pepper shakers, trays, etc.

They had been married over 50 years when her husband died almost 15 years ago. I felt it was a shame that they always "saved" them for a special occassion which never happened.

After being told she was GIVING them to an antique dealer, I took a whole bag full of items. I love using them on holidays or when my family is all home. Everytime I use them I think of her and how much she missed by never using them.

A gift is meant to be used, after all who knows what will happen to it when you're gone! Enjoy and cherish it!
