Nearly Identical Quilts for Identical Twins

1 Attachment(s)
My niece is having identical twin girls in a few weeks, so my sister and I made quilts for them. The green one is completed, the pink one just needs to have the binding hand sewn. As soon as they are born, we'll put the tags on and mail them out.

Very cute. Well done.

Good job. IMHO, 'similar but different' is a good choice for twins.

piepatch 10-09-2012 12:36 AM

Perfectly precious for twin baby girls!

quiltinggirl 10-09-2012 12:43 AM

Adorable! Awesome that you made them with the same pattern but different colors. They'll appreciate that when they are older. My sister had triplets (girls) and they don't mind getting things alike but they do like it when their favorite colors come in to play so that they are treated as individuals as well.

Both look great!

Very pretty! My twin granddaughters will be 7 this year and they were "assigned" pink and purple. The girls aren't identical but boy I sure have a time telling them apart...anyway before they were 2 they switched which color they like and have kept their colors since then. 1 still loves pink and 1 still loves purple...just opposite of who got what when they were born :).

Grand twins started my quilting adventure!

If it hadn't been for my twin grand-daughters, I may never have fallen in love with quilting. When I found out that our DIL was expecting identical twins I thought: wouldn't it be nice for them to have similar but not matching quilts, and the rest is history! Our DIL was nice enough to dress Lauren in lavender (or sometimes lime or lemon), and Rhiannon was always dressed in a shade of raspberry (covering the spectrum from pink to red). I made their quilts accordingly. It is such a blessing to go to their house unannounced and find their quilts on their beds. I can tell they sleep with them every night.

Very cute. I'm sure they will love them when they are old enough.

I have 2 little girls (2 years apart) and these are their favorite colors. The oldest (11yrs)LOVES pink... always has, but the youngest(9 yrs) took to Turquoise from a very early age. We even painted her room Turqoise in Kindergarten.
Great quilts. I love how they coordinate!

ghquilter53 10-10-2012 04:23 AM

My identical grandtwins are also 7 and still like the colors that were "assigned" to them at birth; Lauren/lavender and Rhiannon/raspberry! As a mom of twin boys and grandmom of twin girls, I totally agree with what others have said, they don't mind things that are similar but unique in some way. Good job!!!
