I am hoping to finish this by July 23--the wedding day. It is meant to be a sofa throw and is 72x72. I would like to piece the back a little so that it still looks cool when not folded up. I still have strips left over so thought about 8" strips at the edge of a central 56" x56" square. I am worried that in the process of quilting it those parts would look "off". I would welcome any suggestions about the best way to quilt it.

Really pretty! Going to be a lovely wedding gift.

I love to see bargello quilts quilted with the pattern. So you would sew a line with the color rows. one line through each. Let me see if I can find an example of what I am talking about.

Thanks. Hope to get started soon:)

It is beautiful!! The quilting part is not my strong point!!!

I like to quilt bargellos following the squares of a color , sewing in the middle of each color square just going from intersection to intersection or point to point. It gives a greater sence of movement. Start at the edge at a seam go that color going to the next seam intersection continue on in the same color.
There are some great examples : http://www.quiltingboard.com/user_page.jsp?upnum=2278 |
I'm slow to catch on here. I'm thinking you mean through the middle of each set of color whether zigging up or down. So how does one handle the apex of the curve? Just stop at the middle and go down?
