Need Help with Bargello

Which do you prefer for this Bargello pattern? I tnink the bottom fabric in the second pic is too busy.

I'll post a picture of my inspiration piece later.

Appreciate any comments.

I agree with the print being too busy. You also need to sort your fabrics by value (light to dark). A black and white copy works great for this.

Here's my inspiration. Sorry, I don't know how to rotate photos from my iPad. Tilt your heat to the left. :)

Your inspiration photo is beautiful. Dungeonquilter is right a black and white picture will help you sort and will show you better if that last fabric is overpowering.

Great inspiration picture. I agree that you may want to sort your fabric by value and then work on where it will go in the bargello sequence. Depending on the size of your pieces, the busy fabric may not give the same value everywhere it is placed and may cause a change in the flow of the bargello. Does that make sense? You may have the same problem with the fabric that looks a bit like giraffe print with black areas.

having done 3 bargello's - my opinion is to vary and shade your colors more - the busy fabric is fine since it will be cut into small pieces and the business will disappear.. I thikn you need more gradation of lights to mediums to darks

Now it's displaying correctly. It was tilted when I first looked at it.

You have received some sound advice, and now another question. What is the best width for the strips. I don't really care a lot for the wide ones. any suggestions?

I agree about the bottom fabric - the print is too sharp compared to the softer edges of the other prints. Your inspiration photo is tremendous!

I think you are right about the second pic. That last fabric on the right just looks out of place with the other fabulous pieces you have there.

I really like the first selection. It will be awesome.
peace
