I am making this quilt for my step daughter and I need to know if you think that I should use black or red for the in between the big squares. I do have to put a brown and white strips around each of the squares but then I have to add the black or red which ever you think would look better.

I would put the brown and white strips, then decide on the black or red fabric. Love the fabric.

I like the 2nd one best. It seems to make it warmer.

I think black, the red would blend more into the blocks. But it would make a stunning narrow border :D:D:D

I think a thin strip of the red first then the black. What a nice quilt that will be!

Me too. The black is just a little bit too stark. (JMHO)

Thank you for all of your suggestions. I am trying to make this week so that we can deliver it to my step daughter since she broke her ankle two weeks ago. I love this site because I get so many suggestions and other things to help me in quilting.

What ever you decide- post a pic so we can see, OK?

I would go black. The brown that you show appears to have red tones in it. However, if you still want a little red you can use it as the binding.
