Need help
 

Had a 44 yr old daughter-in-law pass away in october. My son has brought me her scrubs to make quilts in rememberentece of her for their 3 boys. There are also t-shirts included in the to tote boxes. I'm asking for help as to what kind of quilt i could make. Was thinking of maybe a rag quilt backed with jeans, but then again i wouldn't be able to use the tshirts. The tshirts are from the boys wrestling years and football years, and i have already made them memory quilts with the tshirts. Hoping for some good suggestions. Thanks.

So sorry for the loss of your D-I-L. I am not sure what to do with the scrubs. They won't rag in the traditional sense as they are usually not 100% cotton. Maybe a attic window quilt. Just an idea.

I am so sorry for your loss. I just saw some quilts here on the board made from loved ones clothing you might those.

Sorry for your family's loss. How about bonding the t-shirt pieces to the scrub pieces (leaving the seam allowance unbonded) and make a rag quilt. Another would be what I call a fake cathedral window, where you cut circles from the scrub material and squares of flannel or thin batting and squares of the t-shirt and center the squares in the middle of the circle and fold over the side of the circle pieces and stitch down. I don't know the name of the pattern but someone on the board will, I'm sure. If you use that method it would be quilted when you got it together. I wish I could be more help. I'm sure the boys will appreciate whatever you come up with. That would be a great memory item for them. Use the search and check out the quilt as you go patterns. That may be where I saw it.

There's a scrappy Bargello on Quiltville that is easy. You could add some more colors from your stash if needed. I love making them. I used 2 jelly rolls to make one. The boys will love having a quilt made of their mother's clothes. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I love sassy granny's idea. The mom's scrubs encircle and fold over (hug) the boy's tee shirts! I picked up the templates for this at the Dallas quilt show last year, but haven't tried it yet. If you would like to try it, let me know and I'll dig those out and give you the info or a web site. I've forgotten the gal's name. Her templates came in several sizes and it looked easy to do. When you are done it is quilted and reversable!
