My hubby has been after me to make a pool table cover for his pool table. I had a bunch of material in my "to use someday" pile and threw this together (see pic). I've used up all the "pile" but the piece still need "sides" to the piece. Do you all have any suggestions what I can do to extend the sides other than just adding solid borders?

Great top - I might be tempted to put a wide solid border on that. Are you planning to quilt this??

I kind of like the idea of it fitting like it does now. you could add one color border to fit over the edges and another to go over the edges if that's what he wants. you could also make it fitted over those sides like i did my ottoman quilt, i put 4 inch borders and mitered them.

I would go with the wide solid border.

Great quilt from what fabric you had! I think I would put a skinny dark border and then a fatter sold border on it. You could do half square triangles as the last border, but all those points would make me nuts. The skinny inner border would stop the busy center. When quilting it, make squares, or tic tac toe grid on the big border to echo the inside of the quilt.

Maybe if you could find a brown that looks a bit like leather or wood, then fitted it over the sides and corners. Or just put large heavy tassels at the corners to hold it down.

if you have any narrow strips left you can sew them together and put it on the edge with a solid color in between.

Now see, I had thought of doing vertical strips, I have enough scraps that match the colors in the quilt, but didn't want to do all the sides like that. But the solid color in between just might work. Plus the mitered end idea has me thinking, too. I knew you all could help me. thank you!

I think it would look nice with a narrow solid border and a wider border of 'pool balls' fabric but if you are going with what's in your stash, that idea won't work....plus, the 'pool ball' fabric might be difficult to find.
