Since I'm trying to learn to embroider and I'm too cheap to waste the thread and stabalizer  , I decided to finally make the cats a quilt all their own. Since we have (and have had) sooo many I decided not to leave anyone out. So, the 3 house cats that we currently own (well, own us) have their names on the front and all the others...alive or just alive in our memories have their names on the back. Geee..we didn't realize there were soo many! It worked out nicely I think and the cats haven't gotten off of it since I finished quilting and put it down for them

an example of the kitty blocks on front, they are all different

That is sooooo cute. I love the way the corners go together to make pinwheels. Very clever.

sewjoyce 09-01-2008 03:39 PM

It is SO cute! If your cats ever get tired of it, my cat would love it!!!! (Me too!) :D

I LOVE LOVE that quilt!! How big are the blocks?? Tiny?? I love the colors... of everything! What are some of the blocks called... esp. the ones without the embroidery?

Elizabeth A. 09-01-2008 03:41 PM

That's beautiful, it's amazing how they wrap themselves into our hearts and touch our lives! I hope they enjoy it for a very long time.

Thank you, thank you! There are really only 2 blocks that alternate.
They are 7 1/2" blocks and it was really easy to make. I don't know the name of the blocks, but it was a pattern called "Windows" oy M'Liss Rae Hawley from her book fat quarter quilts

CissyQuilts 09-01-2008 03:55 PM

 Now that's a great quilt!

barnbum 09-01-2008 03:56 PM

Thanks--it was the perfect pattern for your idea. Or should I say purrrrfect?

Wow Patti

How on earth did I miss this thread - your kitty quilt is georgous. Such spoilt pets we all have. Did you embroider the blocks too. If so I definately need to get my unit out & play with it.

That's gorgeous!

I have a couch quilt I made and backed with a lime green faux fur throw, it's the family favourite and everyone loves it. But we recently got a new kitten and she has claimed it for her own. Not sure how a tiny 3 month old kitten can claim a whole quilt for herself, but she has! lol

littlehud 03-26-2009 06:01 PM

I love your quilt. What a wonderful idea. And I can tell that cat loves it too.

Debbie1 03-26-2009 08:43 PM

That's way CUTE!

Ah how sweet - I can just imagine your kitten knawing it to make it nice & comfy for herself. Any pics?
