The colors are beautiful. Can't wait to see it when you are done. Maybe you could keep us up to date as you go. That would be fun. (For us anyway LOL).
I love churn dash - I do not like working with batiks - until a quilt is done and then I love it - weird, I know, but... :) Your quilt will be beautiful
I am such a lover of batiks! The gold and orange really bring out the colors in the blues, don't they? Great choice -- and I can't wait to see the Churn Dash!

Wow!! Gorgeous is a very good word!!! :D :D

very pretty

Thanks for putting up the sample block. I was wondering what a split churn dash block would look like.
Do you make "whole" ones and cut them diagonally? Or do you make them "the first time" - the way it's pictured? (That's not worded very well - hope you understand what I'm asking) |
The fabric is beautiful! Can't wait to see the finished quilt.Your block looks great.

Beautiful! Cant wait to see this one finished. I love Batiks!
This is going to look really great when it's done.
How big is the block? Looks like a good size so the nice fabric can be seen. How big will the finished quilt it be? How many yards of fabric do you think it will take? Eager to see more! |
Those are beautiful. I love batiks.
I love your fabric colors I think your quilt will be lovely.

That is some beautiful fabric...love all of them!
Your fabric is gorgeous!
Fabric is gorgeous! Make sure you post when it's done!
I LOVE the fabrics & color combos, but guess I'm a bit more traditional. I'd do complete green/blue and purple /orange blocks & then alternate in quilt to bring out the churn dash pattern. I worry what the focus will be when the blocks are side by side or are you going to have sashing in-between?
Those fabrics are gorgeous. I love your first block. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt!!!

I love the batiks. Very nice fabrics.
My initial thought when seeing the test block was that all the fabrics pictured within the block seem to have the same tone value. By that I mean, not enough difference between the lights and darks. You can see this much easier, if you take your picture and change it to a gray scale image. You'll see little or no difference in the gray throughout the entire block and the fabrics just merge together, which loses the block pattern. Please don't take this the wrong way. This is my own personal opinion and meant only to provide some constructive ideas/thoughts. The quilt is yours and should reflect your own tastes and will look nice the way you've planned it. But I think the addition of either some really light or really dark fabrics with the fabrics you've chosen may look even better. |
