new wool applique quilt progress

3 Attachment(s)
I've started a new wool applique quilt- have 5 blocks finished- 7 to go + a large center medallion + 4 appliqued borders- i am LOVIN it! thought i would share my progress- it does seem to take my a few hours to make each block- and i am actually making 2 quilts at the same time-so i make 2 of each block-so in reality i have 10 blocks done, 14 to go + 2 + 8...but it makes me feel like i'm getting further to think of it as 5 done-7 to go:D

This will be a beautiful quilt. I love wool appliqué, but doubt that I will ever do it. Never say never I guess. Keep us posted.

I too love to applique anything and everything I can get my hands on. It's very portable and I need portability to Dr ofc & hospitals.
These blocks look excellent, machine appliqued?
Love the colors too.
:)

Oh...how pretty!

Beautiful blocks, makes me want to start some! Do you buy your wool at the LQS or do you do the thrift store thing. The wool I have has all come from thrift stores and then felted at home. I love the way it turns out. Can't wait to see your quilts.

I'm doing a wool applique currently, my first. It is a Primitive Gathering fall wall hanging. Love the colors. Very easy to do also. No learning curve actually. The price of kits and the cost of wool can be pretty daunting, tho.
Where do you all buy kits or fabric? In the South we pretty much have to go to thrift stores or buy online and sticker shock happens when you look online.

no they are hand appliqued not machine.

i mostly purchase my wools from thrift stores, & yard sales - felt & dye it myself
once in a while i visit a shop that has a few pieces that i might pick up but 98% of my wools are (recycled)

Oh it's coming along beautifully! I love wool applique, so glad you shared pictures of your pieces.

Nice job on your blocks. I've always like wool quilts but I have to restrain myself to not start a wool stash...sigh.

I no longer have a machine with an aggitator so I can't do the felting. I had thought about it before I found out that it was the 'aggitation' that helped to 'felt' it.

Your way is a lot less expensive than having to purchase it all for sure!
