I just finished doing my first OBW. Have it sandwiched and ready to be quilted. My problem is, what do you guys think I should do for the quilting? I am thinking of a stippling stitch and then maybe some feathers on the borders. But wanted some other opinions before I decided. Thanks in advance.

Gorgeous! No idea how to quilt it as I just do crisscross or SID.

It is amazing how you got it pink on one side and blue on the other. It is beautiful.
|
Absolutely stunning!

I love your OBW! It is wonderful and cheery.
I have no suggestions as to how to quilt it, but I'll be watching this thread, as I am hoping to start my first OBW after the holidays. |
Beautiful!!!

I would do a FMQ leaf design in the borders instead of feathers. I'd mimic the leaf design used in the fabric. An overall meander or stipple would work. If you could find a variegated thread to match-that would be awesome.

I just have a such a hard time on decided on the quilting. I never have a problem on deciding fabrics, patterns. Just when it comes to the quilting, I have this mental block.
I really enjoyed doing this OBW. It was really quite easy. Went together really fast and I love the way it turned out. I have a bright yellow for the back. Can you tell I love bright colors. |
This is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I like your ldea on how you want to quilt it.

Wow! The transformation is amazing! I think stippling and feathers in the border would look nice. Please show us what you do when it's done!

That is so pretty! I'm sure whatever you decide will be great.

Definitely do something outstanding in the borders. The center is so busy that you are going to lose a quilt pattern. Unless you have a plain back and the quilting will show there. I am doing one for a board member and hope to be done tomorrow. I will post it then.

It's lovely.

Stipple in the middle and then some echo design of the fabric in the boarders would be nice. A lovely quilt

Just lovely!!!!!

You have a very exciting quilt there. Love it. I am a beginner. I did do an alphabet one in red, white and blue (squares). Messed up the binding though. I also did the beginner rectangles. Messed up the binding on that one too. But, this all a learning stage. I would love to get good enough to do some like the easier ones I have seen posted. The harder ones....well may be some time in my life time.

That is great.... I just bought my fabric and can hardly wait to get started on my OBW. Thank you for sharing yours.
|
very cleverly done. Great colors :-)

Very pretty!

What is an OBW?
|
Lovely!
I love seeing both the quilts AND the original material. Thanks for sharing both! |
I think there should be a rule that you have to use the same fabric for the back. That way everyone knows what the fabric looks ike before you started cutting it up into the OBW. That being said, I would use the same fabric on the back and quilt around the leaves. The front is so busy any quilting is going to be lost anyway.

I am new to this, and am wracking my brain trying to figure out just what OBW could stand for! It evidently is not ___black, white! Someone , help?

OBW= One Block Wonder. There is a book out there that gives you the instructions by the same name. Also there is a Tute on doing One Block wonders.
I would of loved to used the same fabric for the back. But this was a sale fabric at my local quilt store. I bought the last 4 yards. As soon as I saw it I thought it would make a great OBW. Glad that I did. It really turned out well. Thank you for all of the nice compliments. It has made my weekend. |
I just posted my (Gabrielle) customers OBW. Here is the link

I almost always do FMQ and try for bigger spaces, as I think it makes a quilt more comfy and softer.
|
Pretty!
|
I don't know but it's sure pretty!

What a great idea showing the fabric "before", I showed it to my DH so he could get an idea of what you can do with fabric. It got a "wow" - a word he usually only uses when he sees an old restored car. Good job! It's really beautiful!
