A while ago I ordered quite a few quilt stencils from various sellers on Ebay and one of them sent a little square in the package as a "Bonus Gift". The paper didn't even say what it was, though. However, in the chaos of so many packages coming in (quilt stuff! :D ) and so many packages going out (DH sells our girls' previous year's homeschool curriculum on Ebay) I lost the paper telling me who the seller was and I can't remember which stencil it came with.

This side is a bit scratchy.

This is the side view.

This is the back with a somewhat smoother side.

Is it an emery board? Could you file your nails with the rough side and buff or fine tune the filing with the other side?

An emery board????

Does it look like a sponge? I can't see that well, but it looks like one of those sponge type that you can put in water and it enlarges. Don't try that unless you know, but that's what it looks like. I had one that you could do that way.

Hmmmmm I was thinking a coaster! But rather small I suppose.

I have no idea but I love the Sunbonnet Sue. She's really cute in the picture.

Could it be part of a shape puzzle for a very youg child?

Wait, is it hard, soft? I've gotten some pretty useless stuff as bonus gifts. They generally hang around until a grandchild comes along. ;-) Good luck figuring it out.

Looks like a pincushion.

It's an emery board. I've seen them before in quiltshops. Comes in handy to keep by your machine - can take care of a nail to keep from snagging on material or polish a burr off a straight pin.

It's a "thingamabob" :D

I thought it was an emery board but to see one like this? I've never seen a square one. Let alone, one with Sun Bonnet Sue on it or square shaped.

I have seen them this shape...I remember thinking that it would be rather difficult to use. You would get use out of the edges, but when they were all worn off, how would you get to the newer part in the center of the square???

Ditto. QIAD sent out ones that are shaped like a heart.

Could it be used to "rough up" a side of a stencil to keep it from sliding around?

If the edges got all yucky (technical term)it's thin enough you could trim it off and keep using it as an emory board.

fayza 05-30-2011 07:54 PM

It's cute :)

BETTY62 05-30-2011 09:27 PM

Whatever it is, it's cute if nothing else.

debcavan 05-31-2011 12:37 AM

I'm going with the lady who said emery board. The other side would be the buffer. if you rub it over your nails it makes them shiny as if you have on clear nail polish.
