an oldie but still goodie...quilted by Heather

This quilt has been with us for a many years. The first pic show the wear. It has been loved...alot!!!
I took it apart the other day, made a layer of fabric to go under the quilt top(some of the fabric is so thread bare and I don't think it can be fixed so now a new layer will show through if the fabric rips). It has new batting and my oldest picked out a home dec fabric for the back. I quilted it in very loose feathers and did little rays in the fans. Today, I will put a new binding on it and wash again so it can crinkle up if it's going to.
I'm glad I was able to save this quilt. My mom made the fans years ago, and a friend of ours pieced it, now I got to quilt it. I will be making a label for it later on to save the history of the quilt so it isn't forgotten.

This is what my Mom always said was a Labor of love! I have a couple to do also but have been so afraid I would really ruin it. This gives me an incentive to try to SAVE these TREASURES!

Lol...it was either redo it or make stockings out of it for christmas. My daughter would have been so upset with me. I just want to keep it functional. I would have happily cut it up into stockings that could be cherished for the rest of my life. :)
