They are both great quilts, you did a great job, keep up the good work.

patsynel 03-24-2013 07:40 PM

Beautiful. Love the purple and it doesn't look simple.

kubby343434 03-24-2013 07:47 PM

I guess its called "quiltsmart fusible interfacing"........just learned about interfacing and first time using warm and natural batting........have always used polyester batting but I love warm and natural......thanks for looking

fxsts93kf 03-24-2013 08:43 PM

I'll have to look up that interfacing. I've always wanted to do a Lonestar. I love all the room you have for quilting on yours!

QuiltnNan 03-25-2013 02:25 AM

nicely done

So how does the quilt smart interfacing make a lonestar easier?? wish I had seen this a long time ago, lol. I'm currently working on an all hand pieced lonestar that I have been working on for a very long time.

Thank you for this info on Quiltsmart, I do have a question after watching the video. When/how do you sew the rows together? The video didn't show that; I assume that maybe you sew the rows after you have the first two rows completed? and then after each row is finished you sew it to the previous? It looks neat and I will be looking for the product. So smart!

nunnyJo 03-25-2013 04:03 AM

very pretty

alikat110 03-25-2013 04:10 AM

Nice job....

Diane007 03-25-2013 04:44 AM

very nice quilts

Teeler 03-25-2013 04:45 AM

Now THAT is slick! I, too, watched the video, and had the same question as sandyl- I assume at some point you'd pinch the 1/4" seams together on the back and sew 'em up? I've got a Lone Star PIW, and this would make the process SO easy!

I have another question: How much bulk do you have in those first sections where she DIDN'T cut off the triangle piece underneath? Why did she not clip off that one where she clipped out the bulk from under the others in the row?

Is your quilt "stiff" with that extra layer of interfacing underneath?

quiltinggirl 03-25-2013 04:55 AM

Great job on both!

Jingle 03-25-2013 05:14 AM

Beautiful, love the purple star. Great job.

gabeway 03-25-2013 05:26 AM

Awesome job!

cowgirlquilter 03-25-2013 05:27 AM

These are beautiful!!!!

kubby343434 03-25-2013 06:12 AM

the quilt is not very stiff......I clipped the triangles after sewing the next one on........I did all the diamonds then sewed the squares and triangles on each diamond............the best part there were no Y SEAMS.......then u just line up like u normally would with diamonds

mighty 03-25-2013 07:21 AM

Beautiful work!!!

fivepaws 03-25-2013 07:28 AM

I love the Lone Star but have never heard of this method. Thank you.

Sierra 03-25-2013 08:12 AM

WHAT VIDEO ARE YOU PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT? I've been scared of triangles since my first (and only) experience with them. Is there hope for me.......?

Teeler 03-25-2013 11:17 AM

@ Sierra: You can find other vids directly at their site, but here's one specific to the Lone Star using the product: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1CLjUTJbLE

craftynell 03-25-2013 11:20 AM

The Lone Star Pattern always seemed to far above my level of ability. Thanks for the site for this Tutorial I can add it to my bucket list. All I need is to select the fabrics and sew a few straight lines. I think I can do that.:D

Dretha 03-26-2013 05:35 AM

the are both beautiful

grannydawg 03-26-2013 06:24 AM

Beautiful quilts! Love the purple star - great job!

cuppi duke 03-26-2013 06:31 AM

Both of them are pretty. The purple one doesn't look so simple to me.

IBQUILTIN 03-26-2013 09:26 AM

Very pretty, both of them. Your quilt makes it look complicated, glad you found a way to do it the easy way

debcavan 03-26-2013 09:31 AM

I have been trying to work my way up to that star. Love the black and white too.

bjhumes 03-26-2013 09:33 AM

Both are absolutely beautiful! On the star quilt...did you use jellyrolls?

MargeD 03-26-2013 09:36 AM

I have never heard of the quiltsmart fusible web, but I'll have to check it out. Your purple lonestar quilt is gorgeous.

bevster 03-26-2013 01:47 PM

I agree with Sandyl - the video for the Lone Star did not show how the rows go together - how do they accomplish that part of the quilt? Bevster

gigi4419 03-26-2013 02:54 PM

Pretty quilts!

Auntie Em 03-26-2013 04:49 PM

Beautiful quilts....thanks for sharing!!!

kubby343434 03-26-2013 05:23 PM

no but u could use them.......u use 2.5 x 5.5 rectangles for this

kubby343434 03-26-2013 05:24 PM

bevster - I just added the triangles to the corners and then sewed the diamonds together..........and the best part no YSEAMS
