Okay this is the first I've posted on this new format and I'm here to tell you I'm in the dark! I will see if I can attach a picture. I have only cut a few scraps for step 1, black and neutrals. Will choose the colors as the steps progress. I've made every one of Bonnie's Mystery Quilts starting with Nov 07, Carolina Crossroads. They have all been my top priority but I have other projects I'm trying to finish before the end of the year so this mystery will be a fill in.

I think if you go to thread tools at the top of the thread, you can click on subscribe. Then you can go to settings and see your subscriptions. If this isn't right, please help me understand.

SaraSewing 11-18-2011 08:30 PM

oh, your colors are lovely coyotemagic. I've gotta go dig through scraps now. . . be right back.

COYOTEMAGIC 11-18-2011 09:33 PM

Don't forget to check out Quiltville on Facebook. Folks are sharing their progress over there too. Boy some of these folks work fast!!!

BETTY62 11-18-2011 09:39 PM

Love all the different colors. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.

candi 11-19-2011 02:12 AM

Great start with the color choices from both of you. I need to get home first and go through what I have to see which colors I will be using. Can't wait!

Patty Patches 11-19-2011 02:16 AM

Where do I find the instructions for this quilt?

BMP 11-19-2011 02:26 AM

Watching this one too, I wish I could join in but there is way too much catch up here for me right now !

raedar63 11-19-2011 02:37 AM

I will be watching this thread, I love just seeing the colors everyone is choosing!

I haven't been quilting long enough to have much of a stash to use so I bought all my fabrics - some from members here! I am using reds, yellows, blacks and neutrals! I am so excited it isfinally here but please be patient. I am probably going to need help!

Suzanne in VT 11-19-2011 03:18 AM

I have a TON of scraps, but, I "think" I might use 4 fabrics only in 4 different colors. I am going to watch this for a few weeks before I dive into that idea first. I love scrap quilts, but need to get rid of some of my massive yardage that just sits on my shelves.

Here is all of the information and the link to the instructons and Quiltvilleblogspot.

yayaquilts 11-19-2011 09:06 AM

I'm still a bit undecided about colors. I have started cutting for the first part, and boy is it a LOT of cutting. I don't have precut strips of any width so have decided to cut squares first (3 1/4 x 3 1/4"), using blacks and neutrals, like Bonnie. We leave, tomorrow, for a week of camping with family for Thanksgiving, so doubt I will get much done till after the holiday. Have fun fellow quilters and have a very happy Thanksgiving!!

Here is my progress for Part 1. Yes, I was up to 2 am cutting on my Accuquilt. I'm really excited as this is my first mystery quilt. My other colors are purples/pinks and teals/blues.

Sadiemae 11-19-2011 09:52 AM

Diane, Awesome Progress! I will love following your progress. You can't go wrong with Pinks/Purples/Teals.

COYOTEMAGIC 11-19-2011 10:26 AM

OOOO love the colors!

candi 11-19-2011 12:47 PM

Awesome progress, Dianna. Love the colors you are using.

Oh man, I can't wait to get home for many reasons, but sorting through what I have and picking colors for this mystery is a big one :)

Click on thread tools. You can choose to book mark under subscriptions or you can choose several other options. Like getting a weekly e-mail about it, etc. I am going to watch this one myself. I'm curious as to what Orka is. Beside, I like scrappy things.

brookemarie19 11-19-2011 03:43 PM

I love the colors I have seen so far! I have started mine, but haven't taken a picture. I have 99 pairs sewn together, so for me that is a good start. Hopefully I will finish these up on Monday since the kids will be at school then lol

Here is the easiest way to make those first HST's for the black and white; our Orca assignment for the week.

Let's see, can I attach a photo? It is more difficult than in the past, but I can't learn without trying.

step 1: 3 1/4" square. Sew diagonal, 1/4 " away from center mark
step 2: Cut between sewing, diagonal
step3: Cut THAT triangle into half, across the sewing line
step 4: open up, press,
step 5: sew those cute little pieces into a block, which will be 2" square finished size.

Emma S 11-20-2011 08:36 AM

Mine look exactly like yours except I start with 3.5 inch squares and don't cut the hst until I sew them together for the qst.

COYOTEMAGIC 11-20-2011 09:30 AM

Good tut! I should have done mine that way

grandme26 11-20-2011 10:51 AM

I mark the center line then sew 1/4" on either side and then cut. Also when I do them will probably use 3 1/2" squares.

Sadiemae 11-20-2011 11:58 AM

I started with 3 1/2" squares and had to trim so much off I changed to the 3 1/4" squares. Everyone has to find what works well for them. Enjoy the process.

candi 11-20-2011 12:00 PM

I am not sure how many I can make, but these two colors are neutrals and browns. I love Black, but I just didn't have any.
