I made this for our Grandaughter's first Birthday! Loved the pattern when I saw it - it was for a small wallhanging and a nappy bag - so just enlarged the pattern and added a lot more fabric! Had a couple of blocks left over so made a pillowcase too. Ambah loves it! And the label ... (handsewn to the back of the quilt - only handsewing in the WHOLE quilt - just love my Bernina!) was adapted from something I read in a magazine ... "This quilt is sewn strong and true with all the love I have for you. No antique treasure or work of art, just the love from a Nanni's heart." (Fabric is Garden Song from Nancy Halverson)
Pattern I used - thanks Natalie! Container of threads needed! closeup of embroidery all laid out on the floor ... in progress Label and pillowcase pillowcase next to quilt ... ... and here it is finished! |

What a wonderful quilt for her first birthday! Your sashing sets it off beautifully, well done!

thanks Soniboo and crafty bear! The sashing is actually how I joined it all together! Was all quilt as you go! Just love that technique! My daughter uses it on the floor at the moment (much to the horror of a few non-quilting friends of hers!) ... Ambah still in a cot - it's been washed quite a few times already, in just a month since we gave it to her! Oh how I love my quilts to be used, loved and cherished :)
