Ozark Star (Hexagon) Table Toppers

These are started me out on my quilt journey. I made several and figured if I put them all together I would have had a quilt top. So...I saw it first on F&P last November. The simplicity of its construction struck me and after a few lost tips and some wonkiness, I have made 26, I think. They are relatively quick and lend themselves to many different fabric combinations. Some of mine are more successful combinations than others, but you don't know until you try. Hope you enjoy. I am going to try and post pictures by myself for a change and we will see how this goes...or not. Hooray. Guess the posting pictures tutorial worked. Hope everyone enjoys this long weekend. Be safe.

If you will google Fons and Porter Ozark Star Table Topper, it will pop right up and then you can download the pattern and instructions. I have tried to PM them to another quilter and can't seem to get it to attach. My e-mail is goofy tonight and don't know if it has to do with the satellite or not. At any rate, you can get very clear instructions when you follow that route. Hope you enjoy making them and experimenting with colors, etc., as much as I did.

I think they are all beautiful and rather interesting that some colour combinations make them look like a different pattern.

I started out to make only the amount necessary for my SS ladies. Then decided my DILs needed them. Then decided to make three for charity auction. Then made some for prizes at the card games, etc., etc. It would have been much cheaper to just give the SS ladies $50 and let them buy their own Christmas presents because I have now spent bucoo more dollars on building up a stash, equipment, and now quilting fabric, patterns etc., but I am having FUN.

These are wonderful!!! Here is the link to the pattern http://www.fonsandporter.com/content...Ozark_Star.pdf
PM does not allow attachments... and we should not be sharing patterns that way, anyway, due to copyright issues.

I apologize for trying to do something that wasn't corrector illegal. I thought they were in public domain, free, downloadable, etc, there wouldn't be copyright problems. My grandfather had patents so I understand the necessity of artistic protection. Won't do it again.

audsgirl 09-02-2012 08:19 PM

You made some very cool blocks there! I like how you emphasized different area by the color and values of your fabrics. They all look different, yet are all made the same.

burchquilts 09-02-2012 11:19 PM

These are all beautiful! It's amazing how different they look, depending on the fabrics used! I love them!

Geometrically, I think they are the same. However, since I used Fons and Porter's pattern, Ozark Star Table Topper, I just referred to them by the same name. Welcome to the quilters board. It is amazing and I have learned so very much.

I saw that program too and my daughter bought me the three rulers needed for Christmas (hexagon, diamond, and triangle). You have inspired me to get busy and make table toppers for next Christmas, plus complete a night stand topper for my bedroom to complete the bedspread set I made myself. Thank you for the inspiration!!
