This is my first paper pieced top, and it was so much fun, It is done on a block from Carol Doaks book, "40 Bright and Bold". The borders could be better, and I will probably take them back off and make sure they are squared up some more. It just might need some ironing LOL. Anyway, please tell me what you think. I had so much fun, an ready to do another one. The center would have been a row larger, but ran out of the background dark blue, only had 2 yards of it. So this has been a learning experience for me. I will know to buy more the next one . There is a lot of waste, but it is worth it to get those perfect points :-D

KGoodhand 05-29-2010 03:30 PM

Ninnie it looks great!! I have attempted to learn how to paper piece but I think I am going to have to take a lesson or something! It is not quite clicking the way it should! You did a great job catching on!!! I wished I lived closer to some of you talented ladies (and gents) and maybe you could help me figure it all out!

Spydee 05-29-2010 03:35 PM

Absolutely gorgeous. I am normally not a big floral person, but in this case it really does work.

Just curious, what are you planning on doing for the binding?

Thanks
I will bind it in the dark green that is in the centers, and is the color of the leaves, I think :D

littlehud 05-29-2010 06:56 PM

That is just wonderful. Your paper piecing is great and I love that floral fabric. Great job. Thanks for sharing.

Toto's Mom 05-29-2010 06:57 PM

Love your quilt!!
I am just getting into the paper piecing, and having a ball with it, too.
I found if you take one printed panel, and just cut your numbered pieces and allow for seams, but make sure you cut them all from the back side of your fabric, when you go to stitch them to the paper, you don't have much waste of fabric.

thanks littlehud, and the floral material is special to me. My SQA sent me a fq of it a few months ago, and when she saw how much I loved it, she sent me a whole yard :-D Isn't she the best SQA :D And then I knew I had to make something where it could really stand out, so I went on line and found it,and bought 3 more yards. So , I really have her to thank for this top, it just wouldn't have been the same with out the roses.

I no longer have a "bucket" list, it has now become a wash tub list   I figure I will have to live to be at least 300 now , and that is if I don't add anymore.

gaigai 05-30-2010 01:34 AM

Yup, I love spider! But I'm pooped, so I'm gonna turn it over to you. She looks WAY to comfortable. Did you see her nodding off and wobbling until she laid flat out for a while! I was LOL!

Nite nite. Your quilt is awesome!!! Oh, give Mort a kiss from me. They had big dog breeds on the Early Show on Friday (?) and had a harlequin dane. He was gorgeous. But not as gorgeous as Mortimer, of course! :P
