This is for my daughter, she loves this clown because her nickname is noodle. The wallhanging is 24 by 36. In the pictures you will also see how we did the process from a snapshot. Then blew up the snapshot to an 8 by 10. Then outlined the shape and shading. Then went shopping. The fun part. It has been thread painted on a home machine. My first time doing this process. I'm amazed how it worked.

Thread painting is enhancing a pic. with thread, like showing shadows or movement. Sometimes can be coloring with thread. It is done free motion. thank you for nice comments. I really had fun with this one.

That is so Awesome!!! WOW  :D :D :D
|
I hope I don't sound stupid, but is the thread painting like where the quilt lines are ? I love what you did and am just trying to understand it better, thanks for your patience
Sharon |
There are no stupid questions. yes quilting with a twist, it helps to define, highlight, shade, and add details. It can also be called Thread Play. But all of this does quilt it at the same time. It also can be done with heavy thread like 30wt. but is hard to find in solid colors. On the board is the cone flower i did, this time i had used 2 strands of 40wt. through one needle to get a heavy thread painting effect. Hope i am explaining it good enough to understand.

Wonderful job.

Beautiful work! Your quilting really makes it!
|
Wow! I'm very interested in how you did this. Is this fused, raw edge applique? Did you draw the lines first on the finished picture first and then thread paint over them or did you just let your imagination go as you were sewing???
|
It's beautiful!!
|
WOW You did a great job.the detail is wonderful. I am sure your daughter will love it.

That is so cute!! :D
|
Absolutely beautiful, as is all your work!!!! :D :D
And thanks for asking what thread painting is, Sharon, I didn't know either! :-) |
Yes it is fused, I use steam a seam 2 lite. Once i had it fused I just started sewing with rayon thread, I tried to follow the flow, like in the leg i knew i wanted it to swirl around the thigh to kinda seperate the thigh. I hope this makes sense. Thank you for all the nice comments.
