i'm helping out local guild make quilts for Warriors in Transition (aka Wounded Warriors). the other tops already done were "snatched" up at the last meeting to go to the volunteer longarmer. i'll have to show you those when i get them back for binding.

here's one top (i made enough blocks for 2 like this). a WIP for another. (i'll do only 1 of these because it's slower going than i expected.)

the fabric mountain? i happened to mention to one of our members that i had been hunting high and low for patriotic fabrics and was on the verge of needing a second mortgage. "i have a few", says she, offering to send them to me. naturally i gratefully accepted. this is the mountain my mailman and 3 of his burliest friends carried to my door.

i ordered something special to coordinate with the print on the bottom of the pile. i am anxious to finish all the other tops i have started so i can get busy with that one.

i still get all misty and choked up by her generosity every time i look across the room at the pile. she said i could show you the fabs, but she prefers to remain anonymous.

What is the item in the middle picture? Is it a table runner?

What a wonderful contribution from the board member. Just a few?? Holy cow what a stash she must have.

as a current soldier (yes,,still here,, :-( ) of the WTU program, I want to thank you for your time and work you put into it. It is hard to come "home", but not be able to go "HOME". So I thank you from the bottom of my misty heart now. I teared up when I read your post. I am so thankful and grateful for what you, ( and many ladies) have done to bring a gift like that to soldiers. A young man was presented one last week,,, (he had lost both legs in DEC while in Iraq) and to see a man his size (yes, even without his legs to stand on,, he is a massive man!!LOL.. I told him that and he smiled and said,,its not my legs that make me big,,its my heart,,AWWWWW) cry. The quilt came to him at our SFAC (soldiers and family center) and he was called over,, I happened to be there, by accident. And some of his buddies were there, (they knew what was going to happen) and when they gave it to him,, he said if I could stand and applaud all the ladies that did this I would,, we all laughed,, but he made a speech and it was recorded for them to send ot the lady or ladies that made it., So,, from a long story,, thank you,,,
