this is the salisbury window pattern with the michael miller waterfall print behind it. cutting the window leading was very nerve-wracking. next i will fussy-cut some rocks to stack in the right bottom corner then quilt it.

it's a wedding gift for my stepson in Hawaii in February.

wish me luck with the quilting! (Update next picture!)

Wow Patty that is really pretty!!! I know what you mean about the quilting! It always scares me to start! LOL Good luck and can't wait to see it finished!!!

barnbum 01-02-2008 04:00 AM

I have always loved thsoe--congrats on a job well done.

Good luck with the quilting. It always scares me too. What's the plan? In the ditch? Meander?

fabricluvr 01-02-2008 04:16 AM

thanks ladies!

I'm sticking with the instructions and appliqué-stitching (small zig-zag) around the leading. then on the borders i have some variegated thread to weave/cross-wave up and down and across (in the blue/greens).

vicki reno 01-02-2008 04:50 AM

Wow! I just had an anniversary, dos that qualify me for one?

Chele 01-02-2008 06:48 AM

Stunning! What a lot of work so far! It was worth it! Be careful quilting it! The plan sounds like a winner!

Cathy M 01-02-2008 06:50 AM

You did a fabulous job!!! I just did one of these and they are alot of work. So the next one has the black bias tape that you can iron down to make the window. Much faster even if its cheating :):)

Dawn Hendrix 01-02-2008 06:53 AM

WOW .. it looks GREAT. I bet it was tedious.

fabricluvr 01-02-2008 08:07 AM

thanks ladies!
i have some of this bias tape. thought about it, but the leading is different widths and i wanted to be really careful with this one.

i have the rocks in the bottom right corner and i'm ready to start quilting!

*biting nails* -

Very nice, I did that one as well. I fussy cut one waterfall section out to put behind the leading.....very easy way to make a beautiful wallhanging. :)

Good Job. :)

OnTheGo 01-02-2008 12:19 PM

WOW! I love it. What do you use & how do you do the lead strips?

fabricluvr 01-02-2008 12:50 PM

there's a pattern to trace on fusible web. then i used black kona cotton. it went faster than i thought it would. the hard part is moving it around after you've cut all of the panes out. it's pretty flimsy.

thanks for the compliments ladies!

That quilt is beautiful. I have the perfect place for it! :D

annmarie 01-02-2008 08:42 PM

Patty - that is wonderful!!! The leading is sooooo skinny - you must have nerves of steel & a very steady hand!! Great job!!   :!: :!: :!:

live2teach 01-02-2008 09:06 PM

Patty, that is beautiful! I'm sure he will love it!

MAXIES2 01-03-2008 07:16 AM

That is lovely and thanks to you I have now bought a Michael Miller panel that needs a black gate. On the pattern it mentions a laser cut applique one called Autumn Gate, I have tracked down the website that has such things but can only find it as part of a kit, I e-mailed them to see if I can buy it on its own but was wondering if anybody had used such an item, perhaps you may know of other sites, the one I used was StenSource using the creative iron link, to find such items.
I think such wallhangings could become addictive as there are so many lovely panels in the Michael Miller range.
