My wife and I went to a paper piecing workshop today that our guild sponsored with nationally known quilting artist Deb Karasik ( http://www.quiltmavens.com/ ). It was great and LOTS of fun! I learned to paper piece and got 3 blocks done! :D We got to bring our own fabrics to all do the same pattern, which is one she developed named "Ringo Star". I choose to do mine in Civil War reproduction fabrics. My wife is doing hers in bright tie-dyes on a black background.

Deb is doing a trunk show at our monthly guild meeting tomorrow night as well. Looking forward to it!

Great job Eddie! This is one thing that I need to try! Just apprehensive about it yet.

shaverg 06-13-2010 07:21 PM

Looks great Eddie. I still have not tried PP, I have Carol Doaks DVD. I just need to do it as Nike says.

cjomomma 06-13-2010 07:26 PM

Eddie is there anything you can't do? You are one of the best quilters I have seen.

Jingle 06-13-2010 07:35 PM

Looks great to me, not sure if I want to learn or do paper piecing. You are doing a great job.

fireworkslover 06-13-2010 07:43 PM

Congrats on learning to paper piece. I've done it lots and find it's the only way to get sharp points over and over again. Show off your quilt when you get it sewn together.

RedGarnet222 06-13-2010 07:52 PM

Wonderful job eddie. I love the second one the way that the fabrics gradiate from a light to dark spires.

Janstar 06-13-2010 07:53 PM

Now you can do a Dear Jane quilt Eddie. It's mostly PP. You did a great job BTW! It's fun is'nt it??

I agree! Everything you do turns out great! Bet you don't have any old stab wounds from errant seam rippers, either, do you?
You are a natural.
This is going to be gorgeous in the Civil War repros, too.

Looks great! I love the precision you can get when paper piecing. I haven't done the curves yet. Maybe I'll give it a go when I'm on vacation.

I'm not really sure, we were following a pattern of hers so I don't know what they're called in the paper piecing world. :D
