Placemat vote

I am working on these placemats and I thought 18 X14 inches would be a good size-A. I think I like it better as B, 18 X 12. What do you like best, A or B?

mighty 01-21-2013 10:24 AM

I agree I prefer B.

wolph33 01-21-2013 10:25 AM

b also.I make mine 12 by 18 or 13 by 18

QuiltnNan 01-21-2013 10:40 AM

the larger size would be much better

Diane007 01-21-2013 11:54 AM

I vote B.........................

LynnVT 01-21-2013 11:57 AM

Why not set a place setting of your china on it and see which fits best? I like plenty of room for the glass to be on the placemat, beside the plate so people don't put wet glasses or hot cups on my table outside of the mat. My vote is the larger one.

alikat110 01-21-2013 12:15 PM

I vote A......but would measure againts place setting....does it all fit?

kathdavis 01-21-2013 12:19 PM

Depends on your table size. Bigger table, bigger mats

DogHouseMom 01-21-2013 12:28 PM

If size were the only consideration I would choose A ... but the design is more balanced in your B placemat. I think a 12" placemat is big enough and would therefore sacrifice size for design.

do what ever the one you like best. Everyone is going to give you there preference but they are yours.

This is a great suggestion. I was going to opt for B until I read this one.

I think your basic dinner plate is 10 to 11 inches, so I would prefer the 14 inch mat.

Just for looks I like B, but I agree you have to take your table and eating habits into consideration. My mom has an antique table that is very narrow so all of her things must be adjusted.

i vote for B

redquilter 01-21-2013 02:58 PM

I like B, but agree the choice should be yours and it is a good idea to put a place setting on each and make you decision from there.

trolleystation 01-21-2013 04:58 PM

B for me..................

DebbE 01-21-2013 05:03 PM

Put a representative size of each on your table AND check it for a full place setting and then go from there. I'd rather go larger than smaller to allow for room, stop water marks from wet glasses, etc, and larger always seems to look better on a table, unless you have a very small table, of course! If its going on a 'table for two', then smaller makes sense.

nannyrick 01-21-2013 05:23 PM

I,m for B. Very pretty.

thimblebug6000 01-22-2013 04:25 PM

They both look equally nice. Consider who you will giving these to and what size table they may have. Some of the place mats are so huge you can't get 4 of them on your table. When we donate to Meals on Wheels this is always a concern to me as our guild says 12 x 17 approx..... and that's quite large for a senior in a bachelor apt.

TanyaL 01-22-2013 04:30 PM

I make my place mats 17x11 which will take my dinner plates, 6 pieces of silverware, a linen napkin, a water glass and a wine glass but not a salad plate or a bread and butter plate. These sit off the placemat. I strongly suggest you set your table as you use it and see what fits your table best. I set a table for 8 and that's how I judge everything.

Scraplady 01-22-2013 05:08 PM

I agree that B is a more balanced look. If you wanted a larger place mat perhaps you could add a narrow borer all around.

denveremerson 01-23-2013 02:51 PM

I like "B". But both are very pretty.

nena 01-23-2013 03:29 PM

I make mine like B

QUILTNMO 01-23-2013 03:35 PM

i vote b !!!!

blueangel 01-23-2013 04:12 PM

bjrusty 01-23-2013 05:24 PM
