Well done you finished and it looks great to me, love the colours.

To be honest, the only way I can make the blocks line things up is to add your border to one side of all the blocks, then add the border to the bottom (or top) of all blocks, then piece them together. Its a little more work but I find that I can line everything up much better by using this method.
