I wanted to get this made in a hurry so I picked an easy pattern, hit my stash and in three days this is what I ended up with. I pieced it on a Saturday night from 10:30 to 1:30 AM and then pieced the back on Sunday and long arm quilted it myself on monday and sewed down the binding on Tuesday. Phew. It is done and on it's way tomorrow. I hope it gives her comfort and warmth. I used my friends long arm and this is my third quilt on a long arm. It is a rose vine pattern with brown varigated thread.

I'm stunned that anything done that quickly can turn out so well. The quilting patter is wonderful!

scrappinmad 09-16-2009 07:32 PM

well I feel like the borders look LOL  I little wavy but, hey what ya expect at 1 in the morning. I was in no mood to measure, pin and ease to avoide the "wavy border" She is just going to crawl under it anyways so I don't think she will mind.... LOL I should be ashamed  of those borders though and the sew job on the binding but, like I said phew!! It took me 8 hours on Monday to get it quilted.

Jim's Gem 09-16-2009 07:46 PM

Your quilt is lovely, just 100% lovely!!!!

I was a young widow and my first husband died from a brain tumor at a young age, I wish I knew how to quilt when he was sick, it would have been wonderful to have made a quilt for him, and I would be able to take it out today and have memories of him.

She is so lucky to get a quilt from you, such a lovely quilt from your hands.

scrappinmad 09-17-2009 04:37 PM

I hope it does too. I hope it gives her girls age 5 and 7 and her sister and mother comfort too. I feel so bad for them. I wish her well. I am so tired of cancer. My hubby's leukemia, this issue, and everyday I hear more people have cancer. It is an ugly monster that we can not see until it seems to have reared it's ugly head to much too fast.

Thanks so much. It was the least I could do. So many have done sooooo much for us with DH illness. I just want to pay it forward. As for Three days. It was crazy but, it is done. Time is of the essence so, it was important to get it done. They gave it to her tonight. They said she was all smiles. I hope it helps.

Kathy Buell 09-17-2009 08:25 PM
