Quilt made from upholstery fabric samples
2 Attachment(s)
My daughter gave me a bunch of samples of designer fabrics last year - the kind you use for upholstery, draperies, etc. This quilt is made from some of the heavier fabrics, so I kept the design simple. After sewing each seam, I zigzagged down the center to force the seam allowances to stay open. I intended to quilt it without batting, but the seam allowances were still so bulky that I felt batting was needed, so that the seams would not be felt through the backing. The quilt is 60x60, made of squares that were cut at 8". The backing is a Christmas fabric, but the colors were just right for this quilt.

It is so pretty Dunster! I was given many upholstery books too, but cannot get the silly labels off them. If I just cut where there is no label, I will have very tiny pieces = ugh! What did you do?

What a beautiful quilt! And what a great use for that fabric! Great job!

Good used for your samples

love the colors...
wow.. 8 " blocks? they must have been BIG samples or small yardages. I've often wondered, as I've seen other " upholstery fabric" quilts... how to you clean them? spot clean or sent to cleaners? |
