Quilt (top) for my Father-in-law
2 Attachment(s)
This is one of the quilts I'm making for Christmas. I haven't backed or bound this one yet but here's how it's looking so far. (Sorry for the angle, this is my "design wall" and also where I do all my basting...very limited spaces here!)
This is from a Hoffman Bali Pops pack - I made a racer quilt first but thought it needed something else. So I chopped it apart on the bias and put together some messy squares. Then I figured some black sashing and borders would do the trick but I wanted some batiks in the border too...but I was out! I went to Joann's and picked out a few to try to match the Bali Pops. The cornerstones and squares in the border are all other misc. batiks - I think I did a pretty good job matching the Bali's! The quilt is about 72"x72" - I'm calling it a "large throw", lol. Gr8 idea for another way to use the "strip racing" pattern. I have some pastel jelly rolls that would look good made this way. Thanks for the idea:thumbup:

Very nice quilt, love the colors.

Your FIL is going to LOVE it -- that's a very dramatic, 'manly' quilt - love the balance of colors and the deep golds you put in the border really brings out the other colors. Great job!!
|
That's gorgeous, love the colours. Thank you for sharing.

Lovely quilt. I think you did a great job chopping it up and turning it into something different.
I've never tried basting on the wall. . . maybe I'll give it a shot. We live in a small condo and the carpet is really frustrating to baste on. I need to find a better option and spray basting is out due to family members with asthma. I'd probably get more quilts done if basting wasn't so annoying. I have three tops waiting for completion now. |
Really love that.
|
Good job!! He's gonna love it!!!
|

Love your colors. Thanks for sharing. I like to make these blocks when I am not working on something specific.

You call it "large throw" & I call it "gorgeous"! I just love, love, love this quilt! And I'm sure your FIL will, too! Great job!
|
