Quilted sweat shirt

1 Attachment(s)
I had an itch to do another quilted sweat shirt. This was a hoodie, but I couldn't figure out how to put the hood back on. So this is just a pull over quilted sweat shirt with pockets on the front. Now if it will just get cool enough to wear it here in Florida lol

I hope this works. I'm trying to do this with my phone lol

Grandma Bonnie 09-18-2012 05:51 AM

It's beautiful! You did a great job on it! Yes, it does scream quilter - wear it proudly!!

MommaDorian 09-18-2012 06:12 AM

Wow, beautiful!! How did you do that?

Wendys Quilts 09-18-2012 08:29 AM

I used this tutorial from this board....
http://www.quiltingboard.com/tutoria...t-t102578.html I put the binding on before I put the sweat shirt back together. Which I really like doing better. Not as much bulk!

Wow that's a lot of work and I bet it was fun!

Diane007 09-18-2012 01:17 PM

nice... did you have to take the shirt a part ... add the pieces and then sew it back together?????

Wendys Quilts 09-19-2012 02:33 AM

Diane, yes. I took the sweat shirt apart by following the tutorial that I posted earlier. It was easy to take apart. :)

patsynel 09-19-2012 02:47 AM

Your shirt looks good, the colors are great.

Babs194068 09-19-2012 03:21 AM

great job!

annthreecats 09-19-2012 09:22 AM

Very cute. Love the fabrics. Clever idea to use a hoodie. I would have been trying to quilt the hoodie as well, but your idea to remove the hoodie is so much better. Love the pouch pocket for your hands on this one.

moreland 09-19-2012 05:54 PM

Lovely shirt--I hadn't seen them done like this before. Great idea. I love your colors.

Sweeterthanwine 09-19-2012 06:10 PM

Nice job on the sweatshirt. Love the colors you used. Thanks for sharing your beautiful creation.

Wendys Quilts 09-20-2012 01:56 AM

Thank you everyone. I used some civil war fabrics that I have been wanting to use for something special, and this is what I came up with. I really wanted to keep the hoodie for it, but I could not figure out to put that back on. So I ditched the hoodie. Ah well....

oldquilter 09-20-2012 04:59 AM

Cute, nice job

jamsbuying 09-20-2012 05:29 AM

Cute, cute, cute. Thanks for sharing.

Maureen 09-20-2012 06:36 AM

It looks great, did you quilt over a sweatshirt? Was it hard to do?

Teacup 09-20-2012 06:42 AM

I want to try making a sweatshirt jacket...hopefully in the next few months. Your's is great!

ItsJustMe 09-20-2012 06:48 AM

Very cool! Just love the colors and the design!

nanzone 09-20-2012 07:19 AM

Very cute. I've also made them into a little jacket by slashing them down the front.

fmhall2 09-20-2012 07:27 AM

I love your color combination. It is really nice.

EmiliasNana 09-20-2012 07:54 AM

Cute, and love the pocket. I am lost without one and most quilted jackets don't seem to remember them.

gramquilter2 09-20-2012 08:07 AM

Nice job, oh I am sure you will get plenty of time to wear it as fall gives way to winter, even in Florida.

Wintersewer 09-20-2012 08:43 AM

I want one!!! Can you tell us briefly how to make it?

topper1 09-20-2012 09:08 AM

great job,

Wendys Quilts 09-20-2012 12:21 PM

Thank you everyone. I copied and pasted the tutorial on the first page. I just took the sweat shirt apart and then flip sewed my pieces on to the shirt pieces.

cleodaisy 09-20-2012 12:29 PM

Very nice quilted sweat shirt. I have made three of them with buttons on the front. A friend has made a pullover similar to yours. I am in Florida too, and it is very comfortable.
