Recliner Quilt

4 Attachment(s)
Our friend Rita lost her DH Alan of 70 years this summer. When she told me that she now always sleeps in her recliner in the TV room, I wanted to make her a recliner sized quilt. My friend sewbeadit helped me pick out a design: a log cabin with one side of the block larger than the other, which makes for a nice wavy pattern.

The quilt is made with reproduction 1800’s fabrics in indigos and creams. (Blue is Rita's favorite color)

We took it to Julie Degrave of Pines and Needles Quilting and she did a lovely allover quilting design, which I've tried to show in the close ups.

Rita really loves it as you can see from her beautiful picture. She said she never in her life would have thought someone would make something like this for her.

The quilt is stunning and your photos are priceless with her beaming smile. What an incredibly thoughtful thing to do for a deserving individual especially in a difficult period of her life. I love the colors of the fabrics chosen too. Great job!

That is a beautiful log cabin. I want to make a scrappy one and I have been cutting my scraps to 1 1/2" getting ready for it. Still need more though, so have awhile before I start it. Just love yours.

What a wonderful thing to do for the lovely lady Rita! The quilt is magnificent! I love the fabrics you have chosen, it almost gives a lacy look because of the circles and swirling patterns in some of the fabrics.

craftygal63 01-11-2013 12:06 PM

Looks as comfy as a pair of well loved jeans. I just love it.

malega 01-11-2013 12:43 PM
