I posted about my CL find http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-144713-1.htm and decided to refinish the tired cabinet over the weekend. A lot of elbow grease and many hours later here it is. I'm very happy with how it now looks and I'm not an antiques lover. It looks more modern and will fit in my decor better. The poor cabinet was all scratched and had numerous "cup" stains on the top. No more!

Very nice....what era is the cabinet. Looks very 'art deco' with the square handles.

I'm pretty sure the cabinet is original to the machine. It does have a serial # which Singer used to put on them. It would be in the mid 50's.

Did you spray paint the handles? They look awesome!

Yes I did. I loved the handles, but not the cruddy finish on them. They were originally an old, tarnished and stained brass.

I love it...I need a tute on this...I just bought one similar and I would like to refinish it...did you sand it down...

All of the cabinets that I've bought have cup stains on them also. I wonder what these women were drinking :shock: :shock: :shock: while they were sewing...lol!

What did you use to sand it...what type of sander?
ETA: I love that machine in that cabinet. The 2 tone green compliments the brown of the stain.
