Hi Again! I thought I would share with you the quilt that I made for my husband's family reunion. We waited until the night that we knew that most everyone would be there and then drew names for the quilt. This is the second one that I have made for the reunions. I am sure it won't be the last! I hope not, anyway! Next time, I would like to do some type of an album quilt that everyone can sign.
I hope you all have had a great day and will have an even better night.... Take Care.... |
Your reunion quilt is beautiful. Who won it? You said this is not the first one you have done--do you have pics of others??
gorgeous!! That is a great idea - we have 2 family reunions coming up next summer so maybe I'll steal your idea!!
That is lovely. I am sure whoever won it must be tickled pink! I would be!
What a neat idea!
The quilt is beautiful and I'm sure the person who got it is thrilled!! |
What a pretty quilt. That sounds like fun, can I put my name in the basket?
My niece (husband's sister's daughter, if you can follow that!) won the quilt and it couldn't have gone to anyone better. I was relieved that it went to someone who would appreciate it.
I wanted to contribute in some way and make something that was special and that every year or every other year when we gather, everyone will look forward to. It is something that lasts and will bring good memories, I guess, is what I am trying to say. And I think it makes my husband feel good that I do it.

Beautiful quilt and a great idea.
Oh WOW! I love the colors and the applique. And that scalloped edge. Anyone would love to be the winner of this beauty. An album quilt seems perfect for a reunion. Can I join your family?
That is just beautiful! I would have LOVED to take that home!
Beautiful. Next family reunion you think you can make me a family member?
Very, very nice
You are welcome to come to our next reunion! It will be next July in NW New Mexico in the pines... Very beautiful....!
You said you drew names for it, did everyone buy a raffle ticket so the proceeds would go to help pay for the reunion? It is a lovely quilt. I think you did a marvelous job on it. I wish I could do as well.

No raffle.....We each donate a certain amount of money and all contribute in whatever ways that we are able. Some more than others. It just depends on the family. That way everyone can afford to come. The quilt giveaway is just a bonus for the evening of the biggest day of the reunion. We usually show old movies of the family (most from the 30's and 40's) and after the movie that is when we have the drawing for different types of small door prizes and then the quilt at the last. It is a lot of fun. |
What a wonderful idea and a beautiful quilt!! Can I join your family?
I want to go to your family reunion. Beautiful quilt.
Love it!!!
It looks like your family is getting bigger by the hour.
Very pretty! Love the applique work.
I think your quilt is beautiful...but more beautiful is the way in which you are bonding your family together, how special is that :D
I want my family to remember me when I am gone.....Not for the negative things that I have done but for the good. Life is too short to waste such precious time with negative thoughts and behavior. I love them so much and I guess I want them to feel the same way about me.
That is a wonderful thought. I couldn't agree more with you.
Some family member got very lucky!
I just love your color combination - so cheery. And the applique is gorgeous. I'd love to make this quilt too, so I'll save these pictures. Thanks!
What a neat idea for your family reunion. Bet everyone waits in anticipation to see that years quilt. I think this is a great idea and think I may do it for our reunion next year. Thanks for sharing....and your quilt is beautiful. Not sure mine will be this pretty.

Sep 16, 2008 03:39:37 how hard is it to bind the scalloped edge? It isn't hard to bind as long as you cut your binding on the bias. That is the secret. That way, there is give in the fabric. |
RE: To Beth....
I found this pattern in one of my quilting books. The name of the books is Better Homes and Gardens "Our Best Quilts". It was with the magazines at the grocery store. It has quite a few patterns in it. A good source of information. |
That is gorgeous! Great job.
What a perfect way to celebrate a reunion!!! You're creating years worth of happy memories with those! I think all of us will remember you now and forever too!!! How special of you! The quilt is absolutely beautiful!! Lucky niece! That's awesome!!
