I have hated this quilt from the beginning. It was requested in a theme I don't care for (jungle) and colors I'm not terribly fond of (browns and greens). I bought fabric I thought would work well, but hated every pattern I drew up using it. I finally settled on a variation of one from the book, Twin Peaks, called "Queen for a Day." I had to hurry since my stepdaughter and family are coming soon for a visit, and it needed to be ready to go back to Germany with them. There is supposed to be another pieced border, which is very pretty, but the quilt is getting too large. I'm not sure if I should use the jungle fabric to bind with, but it's what I have the most of. When galloping by, please ride fast and don't turn around for a second look.

I actually love it....went slowly so I could enjoy!!!

Jim 06-28-2011 03:00 PM

I think it looks very nice and I would bind it in what you have..the jungle them fabric would tie it all together nicely

RkayD 06-28-2011 03:03 PM

You did a lovely job for not liking it so..I'm not so sure I could have done as well without some of my ick feeling showing thru. =) Your talent shines. =)

It is a beautiful quilt. But we each have our own likes and dislikes and even tho it is not your favorite I am sure the receiver will be joyful and treasure it. Kudos to you for persevering and creating this lovely quilt. Thank you for sharing.

I agree with Jim on the binding ... and I think the quilt is lovely.

I think it is gorgeous and unique. I had to look for several minutes and enlarge it so I could see all the neat details. You did a great job.

Looks awesome, as I slowly admired your beautiful quilt, and your binding idea will be just perfect to finish this off:) Don't be so hard on yourself~~~~~

Beautiful, you did a great job. I use a lot of browns and greens, very easy to find colors to go with them.

Those aren't my favorite colors either, but I thought it was very pretty. It's a lovely quilt even if you aren't crazy obout those colors. I like it.

I don't know how to ride a horse so couldn't gallop by. It is a gorgeous quilt. I agree with others that you should use the jungle print to bind it.

irishrose 06-28-2011 03:09 PM

Beautiful. The kaleidoscopes in the blocks adds a new dimension.

You know it was done with love since it wasn't done with desire.

Looks super to me...if they don't like it, I'll even come back on the horse to take it off your hands :)

I really like your quilt. It is a soft warm welcoming color and just the right touch of green to keep it from being too plain. Well done!

quiltsillysandi 06-28-2011 04:25 PM

Girl, look again, this quilt is gorgeous!! Nice job!! Love the colors....!

Sadheart 06-28-2011 04:25 PM

Applauds !!!!!!!!
Great Job for fabric you didn't like. The pattern choice was
excellent. It showed the theme without overwhelming.

You did a great job!! I am also not fond of those colors but DD loves them so I have had to work with them more than I would like. You chose a great pattern and your colors work very well together.

BarbaraSue 06-28-2011 05:17 PM

Even though you are not fond of the colors, you did a very great job showcasing them. I'm with Jim on the binding.
