Recently n2scraplver posted a quick and easy quilt plan.

http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...d-t175057.html

I'm always up for a challenge so I downsized her plan. Instead of 4" 4patches, mine are 1". I also made fewer blocks for this mini.

First pic--just the center of my "quilt"
Second--if I add a small border it will fit AAQI requirements of less than 9 x 12
Third--putting it on point makes it larger and not for AAQI, but,,,,,

Triple Wow! Lovely scrappy-minis!

redquilter 01-11-2012 04:31 PM

Love it. Great work.

malega 01-11-2012 04:45 PM

Very nice blocks.

QuiltnNan 01-11-2012 05:06 PM

great job. i prefer it not on point. on point, it looses the stars

n2scraplvr 01-11-2012 05:14 PM

Wow! Fantastic, G! WTG, girl!!! You got it now! #2 looks super! All 3 look great, but by having the darkest border as in #2, it adds depth, warmth, hominess, connection, balance and brings the white stars forward the most!!! It actually coordinates best with the colors of the flowers you chose too. Oh, now I see that you eliminated the alternate blocks so this makes a quick quilt even quicker!! Great!! :)

p.s. yes, QuiltnNan is right! The navy blue one on pt. loses all the depth you had with the darkest border of #2. Can you see how the lighter navy color washes away the effect?

jillnjo 01-11-2012 05:22 PM

Gladie; you are at it again! Making tiny pieces look beautiful and fun to make. I like the star pattern that immerges with the white pieces.

joyce888 01-11-2012 05:32 PM

Wow you've got more patience than me. Good job!

CMARAS1234 01-11-2012 05:45 PM

Look at my first picture, can you see 4 blocks like the one I am attaching in the 4 corners. They are joined together by the pieced "sashings" which form another block in the middle. Hope this helps

I have looked at many of your mini's. They are the greatest!!! Thanks for sharing

Lynnie25 01-11-2012 11:56 PM

I loved this pattern too but haven't had time to experiment as yet. I actually like the 3rd one best but all layouts are great.

#1piecemaker 01-12-2012 06:43 AM

Oh My gosh!! That is so cute. and, small. I have lots of little pieces from other projects. I might have to do one of these. You did a fabulous job.

Totally agree. I had to turn my head to make sure they were still there! ha ha. Is this regularly-pieced or paper pieced? You did a great job. :)

Thanks so much for the kind remarks. This is not PP, I struggle with liking PP'ing.Putting blocks on point always brings in a new perspective, and a different look. If you notice in the 4P all the dark squares are running at the same diagonal; they are vertical in the on point pic. I rotated the pic so the darks are horizontal; do you notice a difference? are the stars more noticeable?

4EVERquilt 01-12-2012 08:47 AM

Amazing!! love your work & I love minis

debs 01-12-2012 10:01 AM

That is so cool, love to see what others do when they get an idea from another member & add their take on it! Wish I had the time to be so creative, regrettably work gets in my way!

Maria C 01-12-2012 01:28 PM

Exceptional. I like the darker border too.

red-warrior 01-13-2012 05:47 AM

I personally like #2 better than #3 - it just seems to show your work better!

Mariposa 01-13-2012 05:50 AM

Love it! :)

I'm laughing here, I just realized that I pinned my "block" onto a leftover DQ pineapple block to which I added the navy triangles. (To make it larger and finish for a fund raiser.) Underneath my "block" is one to match your DQ, Lynn!"

Thanks all. Many of you like the straight set, rather than the on point. If the on point triangles were darker like the sashings would that make a difference? DianneK, after I set it on point I saw the block in a new perspective, too,.

SewExtremeSeams 01-13-2012 09:47 AM

Very nice!
