I started making schlep bags from a pattern off the internet and just couldn't stop!

No, didn't put any batting in--the other bags I've tried to make had batting and they were so thick they broke my bobbin case!

I have made several of these bags. They are so fun with many possibilities. Here is the link to the pattern:

Well, this is weird! I googled schlep bags and was sent to Sentimental Stitches. I don't think that's where I got my pattern but it has a good pdf file you can find on her site. The site I got mine from had a colored picture of a schlep bag before it was sewn up, and after the first one, that was all I needed to help me through the rest of them.

Good luck, hope this helps!

Beautiful bags

Oh my gosh, you have been busy. You could have one for every holiday. They look like they would be a good size, not too big, but big enough.

earthwalker 03-20-2011 03:37 PM

Lovely...very useful.

Love your choice of material. I've made many of these bags. I love them. They are great for everything! I added pockets on the inside of mine. They sure hold a lot. We use them at the grocery store too.

4EVERquilt 06-12-2011 06:39 PM

Very fashionable!!

Donna Mae 06-13-2011 01:47 AM

I've made many of these in the last couple of years. My favorite bag. Good for groceries also, can be washed. I use a 6.5 block, the orginal pattern called for an 8", the bag was to big by the time I got it filled I couldn't lift it!!
I got my pattern of the internet also.
My favorite gift to make. Everyone loves a tote
