This is my scrap pile mess, and this is what I'm currently doing with it.

lin 04-25-2008 11:09 AM

I "only" have 17 more stars (102 more wedges!! ) to make. I think the finished size is 87"x111". It WILL get done some day. Right?

I can't stand that scrap mess any more. I sat down and started sorting through it right after I got the picture. I just can't stand to throw anything away. But I'm forcing myself to be reasonable about the sizes I'm keeping! :D

mom2three 04-25-2008 11:13 AM

lin, your quilt is going to be beautiful.

I have the same problem with my scraps. My DH calls it my organized clutter. Oh well. Everyone makes out on the mess I make. 8)

lin 04-25-2008 11:19 AM

Thanks mom2three. Right about now I'd be happy to send the whole thing to someone, basket and all.

Very nice. Keep up the great work. I can't wait to have enough scraps to do a scrap quilt.

Love your quilt and wall. I too don't really have enough scraps yet and mine I do have are all color coordinated and in clear containers. Need to sew more!!!!

lin 04-25-2008 12:29 PM

Thank you Kiav! :)

Color coordinated? I'm impressed beachlady! I'll be lucky to get them sorted into small, medium, and large. LOL

I just gasped when I saw your project! Wow!

I've got a modest bag of scraps but not enough to do this yet!

We're so glad you're back! :D

lin 04-25-2008 01:56 PM

Aww thanks so much Celeste! It's good to BE back. I will eventually get around to posting pics of the projects I actually DID get done while I was on my little break. I've missed all of you too, and CHATS! :D I think I've finally gotten all my pics in the right place on my computer now so that I can browse and actually FIND them. Later though. Dh is taking me out to dinner tonight. WOOT! LOL

ccbear66 04-25-2008 02:20 PM

Wow.........that is a great scrappy quilt. I love it. Keep at it and it will soon be done.

bebe 04-25-2008 02:46 PM

Great looking scrappy quilt. What is the pattern name?

tlrnhi 04-25-2008 03:21 PM

That is going to be one awsome quilt when it's done!
Beautiful!

lin 04-25-2008 03:25 PM

Thanks guys! :)

bebe, the pattern comes from a Fons and Porter book called American Country Scrap Quilts and they simply called it a "Six-pointed String Star". They should have called it "A Pain in the Neck, but Worth It"

lisae 04-25-2008 04:04 PM

Lovely!

Chele 04-25-2008 04:41 PM

The quilt blocks are lovely! Scrappy quilts are my favorite. I think I like your scrap basket even more! There are some really neat fabrics in there! I can just imagine the beautiful things you've created! If you need my address to send some scraps, just let me know!

Pam Pollock 04-25-2008 05:02 PM

Lin, your quilt is going to be gorgeous!!! Just keep at it & you'll have it done before too long. If you ever feel overwhelmed by you scrap pile...let me know!!! Nice Scraps!!! :D :D

Cordelia 04-25-2008 05:16 PM

How positively INSPIRATIONAL!

Wow!

You know, if we lived near each other, it would be fun to have a "scrap night" and everyone bring their scraps and swap and trade and try different things, brainstorm, etc.

It would be a really fun girls' night!

And to think guys like to sit in smoke filled rooms, drink, belch and cuss.

Celeste 04-25-2008 05:32 PM

Cordelia - I don't get it either!

lin 04-25-2008 05:50 PM

Thank you for the nice compliments ladies. I've actually given this entire scrap basket away. Twice. Just dumped it in a garbage bag and said buh- bye! LOL It was piling up everywhere. I've accumulated a lot of scraps over the last 16 years, that's for sure.

I love your idea of a girls' night scrap swap'n sew cordelia. Wouldn't that be fun? I'd even promise not to smoke, drink, belch or cuss. Well, I might have to cheat on the drink. A glass of wine with friends is always nice. :)

Thanks for you encouragement Pam. If I'd ever stick to any ONE thing for more than my typical 5 minute attention span, I'd get more done. *snicker*

quiltnana 04-25-2008 10:38 PM

Your scappy mess is becoming a beautiful quilt. Those scraps deserve to be loved in a beautiful quilt. Can't wait to see the final quilt. Great Job!

Knot Sew 04-26-2008 01:33 PM

A scrap nite what fun..........walk around and just reach in your scraps and everyone gives a big handful to each person..........and then 1-2-3 sew. :D

lin 04-26-2008 01:41 PM

Thanks Quiltnana! This is my favorite kind of quilt, so it will get a lot of love in my house. :)

That does sound like fun Ruth. My friends and I have swapped scraps before just so that we could have a different variety in a quilt. Even though I have a lot of scraps, they all start looking the same after awhile. :P

sondray 04-26-2008 01:48 PM

Looks great! Can't wait to see it finished.
