Scrappy with a Stipple (Inspired by "ranger")!
 

I've never been much of a "scrappy" fan, but was inspired by ranger's post, http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...l-t130095.html , and had to give it a go myself. I had fun experimenting with it, and also managed to FMQ a large stipple motif that I'm pretty happy with.

I know it sounds a bit crazy, but I find intricate feathers easier to FMQ than stippling. It seems my brain just doesn't want to do a stipple, but I'm working at it. I started quilting along with Leah Day's Wednesday FMQing and am picking up some good advice on how to approach stippling.

This quilt will go to our guild for donation to the pediatric ward at the local hospital. :)

Wendy, it looks wonderful and for a great cause.
Sure wish I could do FMQ.
I have tried it with small practice blocks but don't feel comfortable enough with it to
try larger pieces.
I'm still making baby steps but they do say practice makes perfect.

Everything about your quilt is so wonderful. Great job on the machine quilting...something I have yet to master...but it looks like you have mastered it.

Looks great! I like your meandering ribbon in the border. I've found that if I can keep an imaginary shape in mind while stippling, like a marble for a small stipple or a golf ball for a larger stipple, I can keep my stipples more uniform in size, not that yours aren't uniform, they look really good. Just a tip that I read about that has really been useful to me.
