Scrappy UFO # 6 up to finish

1 Attachment(s)
Number 6 is on the design board. Started '08. There are five arcs to finish and then deciding what the backgrounds will be. I already have a name for this one. I'm calling it " My Brain on Fabric". This is going to take some time to finish! The arcs are PP and the backgrounds will be pieced.

I love the arcs! I can't wait to see this quilt finished. The first background color that comes to mind for me is to use black or maybe navy. Something dark so the colors pop!

Phyllis42 09-16-2012 06:29 AM

Beautiful colors. I admire your design wall. Did you buy it or did DH make?

Would love to see the rest of your Quilting Cave and the other design boards. Who came up with the idea of the large boards that swing back and forth? Amazing quilt to be!

It will be a beauty. Love your design wall.

LoisM 09-16-2012 09:30 AM

That's a great placement pattern. Thank goodness for design walls, right?

QuiltingCrazie 09-16-2012 09:37 AM

Did you have a pattern in mind? Funny thing I'm making the same type of quilt. I saw in a magazine a quilt with a colorful background pieced then flowers appliqued all over out of Dresden plates. I'm doing one in fall colors as the background and turkeys made from Dresden plates with leaves and pumpkins appliqued as well. Interested to see how you decide to do the background! I'm using what the pattern in the mag has but interested to see different too!!

The pattern is from American Patchwork and Quilting: February 2004; The name is Completely Dotty. I want to do another with all dotty fabric too. I used the arcs from this pattern.

The layout from Mary Mashuta's Confetti Quilt.

Thanks for liking! peace

My design wall is a seven panel structure that I bought ($100) at a LF/QS that was closing. It held samples of bridal lace and trimmings. The Owner asked what I would possibly want with that thing?:D
It weights a ton.Several fabric display shelves and my long wooden table came from the same store.

Really miss the store.

Are you going to piece the background and then applique the circles on to it? I would love to see more pics as you progress. Thanks for sharing:)

I pieced one arc so far. I tried piecing the center but it is a very small arc with so many seams id doesn't look real nice. So I think I am going to applique the centers on after the top is finished.

I was going to use light to medium shades of purples for the BG but the suggestion was made for a black BG so I may change to that. I like that idea.
