I saw Anna's avatar a while ago and fell in love with it! Apparently it's from a pattern in a book but as it was only log cabins, I thought I could work something out in EQ. What do you all think? Apart from the seahorses, there are fish swimming up and down vertically between the seahorses, can you all see them? :-D

Very cool - love the colors, too.

Yes. I see the fish - love the seahorses.

Yes, I see the seahorses and the fish. Very clever, and very pretty! I love the colors.

I was looking at the work of Escher ages ago and wanting to do a tessellating design - I guess now I've found one! His seahorses are far more organic and tessellate into other seahorses - that would have to be done with applique but I like this version! I've been googling around and there seem to be quilt patterns out there called 'Tessellating Seahorses' in books by both Karen Bolestra and Barbara Schaffield but I can't find images of them. I don't think I'm breaching anyone's copyright as a) log cabin is a public domain block and b) I've only taken an idea and created my own design - there's no copyright in ideas - I don't think I'm treading on toes... at least, I hope not!

It was unintentional - I was only aiming for seahorses - the fish were a happy bonus! Now there's honesty for you.
