The coins are Chinese (that's what the package said). I found them in a little shop that sells all sorts of stones, jewellry, organic clothing and makeup, books, candles etc called the Hobbit Hut. The card they were attached to said the symbols meant, prosperity, long life and family. I thought that was perfect with the idea I was wanting to give. Each kimono is held closed with a beautiful filigree button.
I never thought of trying to sell them. Hmmm, maybe make a few between quilts and see how it goes at a craft sale this fall. Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments. |
Those are beautiful Overlander. Did you have a pattern, or make one up yourself? I have some lovely Oriental fabrics, and I have been trying to decide what to do with them. Oops, dingbat me.. now I see you did them yourself.. you should consider marketing the pattern, I'd sure pay for it.

Hi Tippy - there was a pattern for them, but it was for a small Christmas tree ornament measuring about 2.5 inches. I enlarged it to make the shadowbox size. The pattern is called "Folded Kimono Ornament" from "Designs to Share with You" by Ursula Riegel. I don't know if it is online, we were given the pattern at one of our guild meetings a year or so ago.
