A friend of mine found these 2 1/2" squares at a thrift store, she gave them to me, so I just stared sewing them in two, then into fours. I don't know what pattern to use to put into maybe a lap quilt, do any of you have suggestions or ideas on what to do with these little squares? Thanks

Trip around the world maybe.

I would just make a patch quilt if thats even a name for a quilt. Just strips of squares.

since you already have some sewn together, a trip around the world probably won't work. but several recently posted quilts take blocks of the scraps and sash them with white or another color. they look great.

I would suggest that you start sewing them into 4 patches. Then you can either alternate them with a solid square or sewing the 4 patches together. I think it will seem that make faster progress.

I like this idea. I have a bag of small squares that I would like to do this with.

Thanks for asking and sharing! I, too, have a bag of small squares I need to do something with. I think mine are all different fabrics...

Another larger block is to make a 9P block with 5 of the 4P and 4 4 1/2" cut squares. This will make a finished 12" block. Put sashings around the blocks and in no time you will have a small lap quilt.
