How about sewing verticle columns, and then offsetting them by starting every other column with a half block. Here is a link to something similar.

If you were able to find an awesome border fabric, that would make this an "AWESOME" quilt by an "AWESOME" lady.

ahhhh thank you! now the wall is FULL of them! i thought of doing the colors light to dark but some of them i only have 6 blocks total and so since it was just scrappy that i was working with i thought i would leave it scrappy. i DO, however, have about 600 little triangle cut offs that are now HST's that i can square up and use them as a sawtooth border, even tho they are small. and then add a strip of the background and then a bright border to finish it all maybe. not sure yet, but will keep you posted. i LOVE that quilt you showed me, that is fabulous!

I really like the randomness of the arrangement with the mix of colors. But I'm going to be a little different from the others that posted and throw out the possibility of very narrow black sashing, but not between every block. Maybe four blocks sewn together, set on point with black sashing (about 1 in. finished width) and colored cornerstones of some scraps of the fabrics used on the blocks. But there is nothing wrong with just sewing it together as you have it layed out.
