Pictures of some of my first completed quilt tops and one completed quilt. I am still working on my very first quilt - which is a king size made of 6" blocks that I embroideried with my embroidery machine - I'll post a picture of that next time I take it out. I'm still struggling with squaring up and doing borders and binding ~ but I'm having lots of fun!!! I do forensic interviews of kids who have been sexually or physically abused and this is my way of clearing my head of some pretty horrific images somedays. I tried knitting but I didn't need to concentrate so my mind would still conjure up the images - when I quilt I have to concentrate.

your quilts are beautiful. amazing that you can create such wonder amidst the horrors you deal with every day.
thank you for being who you are and for doing what you do. you are a hero. :P |
These are all beautiful!
|
I love your floral fabrics...............they are so peaceful great job. Thank you for the job you do and bless the little ones.......I know one , :-) and someone like you helped
|
I like them... They are all pretty..
|
Love all the pink and green. They are beautiful.

Very Pretty,And lots of Kudos for your choosen career. I would either be sitting in tears, or committ serious harm to somebody.I personally can't stand any harm to a child. When I hear about some of the horrific things that come across the news, I actually get physically sick to my stomach. There are NO excuses. NO exceptions. I deal daily with Special need children, We had one little girl, whos brain was so damaged as a baby, from the result of the Baby Shaking Syndrome, that she was in a wheel chair. She was so pretty and soo sweet, I cried about that one. So go get them, put them away and please lose the key.

They are all so pretty! My favorite has to be the Sage Gossamer Petals quilt, though, if I HAD to choose one.
Like the others, THANK YOU for the job you do! It must be comforting to the children to have someone to talk to about the horrors who will believe them. |
Your quilts are gorgeous! I love all of them! The colors are put together very nicely! I say, thank you too for the job you do!!!

I hear you ~ there are days that I struggle not to break out in tears and so many many days that I simply want to reach out and hold them close, especially the little ones but I am not allowed to touch or hold, or even show any emotion. What it teaches me every day, though is the true meaning of unconditional love because no matter what has been done to them ~ they still love their offender, usually a parent and want to go home. It makes it all the more special each time I spend time with my children and each time I hold one of my grandchildren. Of course I've gotten a little parnoid and I run a background check on anyone who might spend time with my grandkids! :-)

Thank you for what you do..... as for the quilts, I love the first one.... my colours..... it is "stairway to the stars".... have just finished two of those.... they will be shown very soon...

Beautiful quilts. They show peace, warmth and contentment.
Personally, I cannot imagine doing what you do for a profession. I would be committed. But for those that cannot thank you for what you do, I thank you for them. What a rotten card to be dealt so early in one's life. M |
dreamdanzzer - Your quilts are all beautiful :!: I cannot pick a favorite. You have done such a good job on them.
I work as an emergency room nurse. I know just where you are coming from. It is unbelievable what some so-called "human beings" can do to a helpless, innocent child. :( I have been a nurse for 34 yrs. so I consider myself pretty good at keeping it together while at work, but I tell you, I have had some pretty teary rides home. I turn to quilting for my comfort as you do. It's that release that we need so we can carry on. Keep up the great quilting and post more pics when you have them   |
The decadent victorian fabric quilt is absolutely beautiful. I've collected quite a few pieces of this fabric and someday am planning to make a quilt for me!!! Good job on all :):)

Your quilts are just lovely :) . Quilting is definitely a good theraputic
activity :) . Your heart and soul pours out into these quilts. With your kind of work (I know I could not do), quilting refreshes you to battle for another day of "getting that man or woman" in lockup. god bless you :!: |
I love your quilts! All of them are beautiful, but the second picture is definitely my favorite of the three. Such beautiful colors!
|
All are beautiful, but I especially like the one with the Decadent Victorian fabrics (the pink & purple one). They just look so beautiful together!
|
These are beautiful. You are also a hero and a an angel for doing the job you do. :):)

Beautiful quilts. I am amazed. Thanks for sharing.

You have made some beautiful bed quilts. I've only made 3 for beds so far, all my other projects have been smaller.
I've been a nurse for 40years and guess what... a sexual assault nurse examiner for my last 10! I wonder if we ever met at one of the big Forensic Nurse Assoc Scientific Assemblies! My hubby says he'll teach me how to post photos here. We will start with the wallhanging I made for our county's SART exam room so our patients can have something of beauty to look at during the exam. Other than some pending trials to testify at, I am done with that job. I had to stop all nursing due to my own medical conditions, but anyway, I would not have continued since our adult and pediatric teams were cut back to one much smaller (from 9 to 4 examiners) and the nurse on call would be responsible for victims of any age. I commend you for working with the children... I never wanted to do that. Cathy |
Beautiful quilts!!
|
You are a hero. I so wish they would be much more harsh with molesters.
Your quilt is wonderful and I agree that you can lose yourself in the process of quilting. |
To Quiltswithdogs==Your name represents my biggest loves, of course, besides my husband!! I am so happy that you can lose yourself in your quilting. I have been an RN for 32 years and I'm sorry to say that some of the joy of the profession has been diluted by downsizing and corporate hospitals and entities shrinking nursing time down to assembly-line-like processes. I believe that spending quality time is seen as non-productive and a drain on the budget. Anyway, I have been downsized from full-time to half-time to no hours to be replaced by someone who has ZERO experience in my specialty. BUT, I got to be an RN when it was still so much fun and absolute joy, where you had time to know and love and care for your patients--and that is priceless!! Enjoy your passion and hope that your medical condition stays at bay or even improves!!!

nice
l like you soft green one best |
Beautiful quilts made by a beautiful person who has a very tough job..God Bless YOU
|
God Bless you, you are one strong woman. I think I would end up in jail with that job, I can't even stand to think about someone hurting kids like that. Nice quilts!
|
Keep up the good work. Quilting can become obsessive (ask me how I know) and it does take you to a peaceful place. There are some sights and stories that are best forgotten after the "need to know" is over.
