I can't find the post now, but the other day there was a thread posted about a clever spool holder. I believe it was a plastic pencil holder or something like that. She said she paid .50 for it and she punched holds and it held about four spools of thread and there was no tangling. Well this gave me this idea. I hand quilt and I have a wooden spool holder but it is just to heavy on the quilt and if I just lay my spool on the quilt it rolls away a lot of the time. So here is what I did. This is a Gerber baby food container. It works really well as it is very light and it does not roll away.

Hmmmm...I'm liking this idea and I must try it.

For years I've used a pill bottle. Heated an ice pick, melted a small hole in the side to pull the thread through. The cap keeps it in place and it pulls out nicely.

That is a neat idea! I use baby food containers like that to hold straight pins, quilting pins, beads, etc. Great way to recycle when you have little ones eating baby food.

And it's free!

Great idea. I have one of them and I put my sewing machine feet in it. Keeps them all in one place and easy to spot.
